How many people do you buy for?

I've seen lots if threads about people with huge lists to buy for and was wondering what was the 'norm'. Aside from santa for the kids I get:

My mum
My sister - £10 limit
My bil - £10 limit
Three nieces
One nephew
DP
Secret Santa for DP's side of the family
Work secret Santa
One friend - maybe she lives abroad so I have to be organised!

DP gets his dad and the family secret Santa ( he will spend more on his dad than mine combined!)

Oh god, and the Christmas birthdays! Both SILs, one friend and DH. It's a nightmare.

fairnotfair · 24/11/2014 18:40

30 people I know this because I have a ridiculously detailed spreadsheet

This includes:
17 members of extended family (I do all the present buying for DH's relatives as well)
A few friends and elderly friends of parents
Little presents for teachers, teaching assistants, football coaches, lovely man who drives school bus

fairnotfair · 24/11/2014 18:41

Oh yes Heyheyhey, the bastarding Christmas birthdays. Six of those also on the spreadsheet

juneau · 24/11/2014 18:41

DH
2 DSs
Mum & Stepdad
Dad & Stepmum
Aunt
Sister
4 nieces and 1 nephew (we parents don't buy for each other, just the kids)

Also two stockings (about 20 small things per child), and gifts from the DSs to my DH and for them to each other.

So, that's ... 17 people and two stockings.

juneau · 24/11/2014 18:42

P.S. That's why I make DH do his family, which consists of just three people!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 24/11/2014 18:53

DD
DM
DF
DGM
MIL
FIL
SIL
BIL
4 x friend's children
1 x cousin
1 x auntie

14 in total and that feels like too many. DH and I can't afford to buy anything for each other.

DamselNotInHerDress · 24/11/2014 18:53

About 50 people, plus 2 of my dcs birthdays shortly before Christmas, and another 8 between now and Christmas!
I've barely started my shopping Shock
I was due to go on Friday but realised I couldn't face Black Friday crazed shoppers so im going next week instead.

spicedragon · 24/11/2014 19:04

20 in total - close family (DH, DS, parents, siblings, nieces/nephews) and school staff mostly. Don't buy for any friends or more distant family like cousins or aunts.

BedPig2013 · 24/11/2014 19:28

Dd
Dm
Db x2
Dd's dad
My nan
My step nan
2 cousins and 3 second cousins (all children)
2 friends

In our extended family we don't really buy gifts for adults, just for kids and grandparents. My budget for immediate family is £20 each, maybe a bit more for my Dm and I just buy the things I think dd will like as and when I can afford them, no budget for her

clownumbrella · 24/11/2014 19:46

DH and DD
DM
My Dad and step-mum
MIL
SIL and BIL
my Aunt/Godmother
Goddaughter and her sister
3 x DN's
3 x second cousins (children)
3 x neighbours
4 x friends
7 x friends' children
8 x teachers, TA, etc
4 x staff at livery yard
our cleaner (she is awesome!) and a chocolate advent calendar each for her DC

Scarily, I feel like I have left someone out!

alpacasosoft · 24/11/2014 19:56

don't buy for Aunts/uncles/cousins/nieces/nephews ( all grown up)or friends.
We all agreed it was too much so don't buy anymore and who needs another giftset anyway

Letthemtalk · 24/11/2014 20:17

Oh and I forgot the lollipop man!

0pheliaBalls · 24/11/2014 20:37

2 - DH and DD. We don't have any family other than each other and no friends apart from my childhood friend who lives hundreds of miles away, and we've never bought each other gifts. I would LOVE to have a huge list of family to buy for Sad

Zazzabeans · 24/11/2014 21:34

Not a lot :0(
Which is a shame because I love buying presents, I could buy for my family but they don't appreciate it at all..

Don't by for dh as we get things whenever we need
DS

What sort of money do people spend on nieces/nephews? I asked my sil for present ideas and she's come back with presents £25-£30 each kid. Which when there's 3 to buy for adds up! Am I being tight?

HeyheyheyGoodbye · 25/11/2014 11:42

Flowers for those who feel blue over small lists. Wine for those who feel crazed over huge ones.
