I've given up on doing a list after 15 years of dh refusing to look at it...

He loves shopping and really enjoys coming up with surprises for me, so I can't complain really - but if I was going to make a list it would be for a mulberry silk dressing gown - and actually I'd also like an entire mulberry silk bedding set to go with my pillow - but I dread to think how much it would cost...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/11/2014 22:51

I have a sort of list but most of the things on it , I am already using Blush

I got two Woolovers jumpers an I have marked the brochure with ones I like (for DH to find)

Got a new dishwasher and microwave (but they're household, not for me personally)

I don't smoke or drink and my hair is scalped Pixie Cut (I dye it myself) so no need for GHDs or curlers.

Some M&S jeggings maybe.

sliceofsoup · 22/11/2014 23:13

DH keeps asking me for a list, but I have no idea what to put on it.

So far I have got

A slanket
Face cream

There's nothing else I want. I got a huge bottle of my fav perfume at my birthday so wont need more of that for ages.

I will be reading this thread for inspiration.

Another lone parent here who buys presides for herself so ds isn't completely puzzled on Christmas day!

Thing is I can't really think of anything I want tbh, apart from a jewellers bench but it's pricey Sad so I'll continue to risk my dining table until I get my inheritance through!!

I do want the new Stephen King book, well could find loads of books I want really, but I can get them on my Kindle cheaper so what's the point?Apart from physical books feeling and smelling nicer and being things of beauty it seems daft, really.

Could go with the Supernatural box set or American Horror Story ones,BUT again,I can just watch all episodes between sky,Netflix or prime whenever I feel like it

Hmm,not doing too well here am I?

I don't drink so no point in a nice bottle of anything.Losing weight so maybe some clothes? But will need some before Christmas...arrgh!

Maybe I'll just get myself a nice big Lush gift box (although it's cheaper to buy seperately...not doing myself any favours here am I?!) and a book?Meh!

WyrdByrd · 22/11/2014 23:33

DH has bought me this - we are planning to completely redo our bedroom over the coming year and it will go in there.

It is lovely - he looked at it several times and checked with me before going ahead with buying it, but if I'm honest I would just love a stocking of little things that shows he actually 'gets' me iykwim.

That probably seems really ungrateful written down Sad.

Discussing this thread with a friend who was also a lp and she recommends buying yourself little presents through out the year, boxing and wrapping then so you've forgotten what they are by christmas.

I an definitely doing this next year

pinoli · 22/11/2014 23:50

Some nice gifts here Smile

I like doing a big list but only getting a few presents. Then they are still a surprise under the tree!

I was a LP for 3 years. I would always make a wish list on amazon and then tell them to choose x amount, one click ordering so I didn't see what they had paid for, they would intercept the parcel and wrap!

Wyrd, that is gorgeous.

I know what you mean re the stocking. I find DP very easy to buy for (although I am actually pretty good at getting people presents) but he isn't the greatest.

He's getting me a laptop and maybe a couple of little stocking fillers if I point them out to him.

I do think the list is the way forward. I do this with DFamily - send my DMum a list who distributes it and everyone picks something off it.

Slubberdegullion · 23/11/2014 08:45

Knives. Sharp ones.

A stocking of gin.

Hassled · 23/11/2014 08:54

Somewhat tragically, I want some elegant reading glasses on an elegant chain to wear round my neck. I'm fed up of looking for my glasses when I need to read the back of the pasta packet for timings.

And I was indignant the other day because I'm now so old I've been sent a slipper catalogue - but actually they're really nice slippers and I want some.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/11/2014 08:58

Not a LP but still just ordered my own present..a bag on amazon lightning deals..and DH told me what he wanted. Romance is dead

AliceinWinterWonderland · 23/11/2014 09:14

Nothing from stbx for me, obviously (which is fine). Dcs are too small to buy for me. So I'm choosing my own and wrapping them and popping them under the tree. So far I've got a couple books, but will be picking up some lovely candles, and a new bathrobe (something fluffy and warm). I'm happy with that.

Methenyouplus4 · 23/11/2014 09:55

We don't usually buy each other but said we'd get something little this year. I've asked for a fine, thin gold necklace (just from etsy/ hof type thing) but sending dh some images as a guide otherwisevi could end up with something, erm, blinging.

RedButtonhole · 23/11/2014 12:11

I'm a lone parent but thankfully I do have a rather lovely extended family who will give me some presents to open.

I rarely ask or hint for anything, I like to be surprised and I always feel a wee bit sad if I work out what I'm getting.

I would like some Chloe perfume and for my mum to knit me a hoody in the wool I couldn't afford to buy for myself about a month ago. She'd have to be psychic to know this though as I haven't mentioned it.

spottymoo · 23/11/2014 17:27

I've asked for a new kindle cover, emma bridgewater mug, slippers and pjs.
I've also asked for a candelabra, soft throw, joseph joseph chopping boards but dh sees them as home things and refuses to buy them Hmm even though I know I'd be over the moon to receive them as can't always justify the cost.

WyrdByrd · 23/11/2014 17:38

Have tried the Amazon wish list the year before last - hejust picked the first three things that came up. Very nice but again, no thought whatsoever.

Better than last year when I suggested we did just did a token present for a tenner. I got handed the cash with a 'get yourself a book & some nail varnish' Hmm

PonyoLovesHam · 23/11/2014 21:55

TripTrap I used to work for lush, and we would add up the cost of the gift boxes, and some were cheaper buying in a box, some were a lot dearer! So if you're bored you could always work it out?! ;)

I don't know what I want for Xmas, I came looking for a thread to get ideas.
