I want to make a film night hamper for a family with girls these ages, any ideas of DVDs?

Cry baby, grease 1&2, mermaids or if they're brave then what about leprechaun?

agnesf · 19/11/2014 00:41

Mama Mia

Hunger Games

Any Jane Austen dramatisations

NanaNina · 19/11/2014 00:53

Depends on their taste - I wouldn't do this as you could get it horribly wrong. My 14 yr old DGD loves the "In Betweeners" (it's a bit rude) and box sets of her favourite TV programmes "Outnumbered" - she also loves musicals but has probably seen them all - maybe find out what TV programmes they like to give you some clues.........

crumpet · 19/11/2014 01:05

Some of the 80s Brat Pack films such as the Breakfast Club?

HowsTheSerenity · 19/11/2014 01:20

Yes to 80's classics!

HoHoHappyHolidays · 19/11/2014 03:41

Mean girls!!!

Ihatemytoes · 19/11/2014 11:54

I've bought 13yo Dd the naked gun, airplane, and mean girls.

traviata · 19/11/2014 15:00

I'd stick to films made before 2000 as less likely that they've seen them;

Legally Blonde
Clueless
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
13 Going on 30
Miss Congeniality
10 Things I Hate About You
the Craft

or try

Sunshine Over Leith

magpiegin · 19/11/2014 15:01

I agree with Mean Girls.

BettyFocker · 19/11/2014 15:30

I think it's a tough one because, as NanaNina says, it's all down to personal taste. When I was 15, my parents bought me loads of DVDs for Christmas, such as Grease, Saturday Night Fever, some Meg Ryan boxset and a bunch other films I've forgotten. I've no idea what they were thinking because I hate Grease and always have! I, of course, was grateful but inside I was Confused because I was into action and drama and horror.

I think if you can ask what they're into first then do that. And it also means you won't end up buying loads of DVDs they already have.

Clueing4looks · 19/11/2014 17:04

What about paying for a subscription to netflix instead? They'll be something for them all.

Notso · 19/11/2014 17:15

anyoldname76 · 19/11/2014 19:17

Pitch Perfect went down well in our house

BabyDubsEverywhere · 19/11/2014 20:06

You really need to know what they like first surely? Would be a waste of time otherwise, at those ages pretty much anything could be on the cards. I remember being bought a load of chick flicks and teeny films when I had my first video player at 12, (insert 'old' emoticon here). Such a waste of cash, they were never even opened as totally not my thing!

Just ask their parents first :)

Kim82 · 19/11/2014 20:11

I was just going to suggest Pitch Perfect but it's already been mentioned.

How about:
Crossroads (crappy Britney Spears film)
Dear John
Bring it on
Dodgeball
Love actually
27 dresses
Hitch

frazzled74 · 19/11/2014 22:59

They are all girly chick flick girls, thanks I have just had fun shopping on amazon for 80's films.

Try the older version of hairspray with ricki lake. My 11yo loves it!
