So, I am determined to find some good Christmas Markets this year! Please help me Xmas Smile

Europe

We have a few days prior to Christmas (18th to the 21st) when I would like to go somewhere in Europe to a/some lovely Christmas Market/s.

Lots of pretty lights, mulled wine, atmosphere and preferably grapes in toffee Grin (The ones in Bruges were A-May-Zing). I'm not looking for somewhere to 'shop' but a couple of nice decorations would be good (but definitely not a priority), I just want the atmosphere and to go somewhere new/different.

UK - I'd like to book up some weekends so we don't end up 'busy' & not able to fit them in!

I live in the SE & we'll be going to Winchester (flexible with this as we can either 'make a weekend of it' or just go for the day).

Happy to travel for the weekend as long as it's worth it Xmas Smile

Where do you love/hate & why? Thank you x Xmas Grin

Had a little trip to Chatsworth Christmas Market this week.

Small but nice atmosphere. If you were travelling to see it, it would be better to combine it with a visit to the house and gardens

£3 parking in the week £10 at weekend

It finishes on Sunday this week

I'm going to Lille by Eurostar from Ashford. I'm sure Vienna is beautiful but it really is the most child-unfriendly cities I've ever been to (have been 3 times when dh was working there) and I've neen to lots of European cities. Wouldn't takes kids there. Brussels was lovely when we were there for St Nicholas Day (didn't realise, so events were a lovely surprise). Stockholm is stunning at Christmas, as is Oslo.

We are going to Brussels or onto Bruges in 2 weeks. No idea how nice they will be but we go to both places at other times of the year and both DH and DS love them both. We go on Eurostar for a long day out. We are also going to Bath at beginning of Dec to see close friends before Christmas. I love Bath as lovely atmosphere and shops/ places to people watch at anytime of the year ... In the past I have been to Christmas markets in Birmingham - was ok and easy to get too and also York - loved York itself but market was awful.
