He owns:
Geotrax + a remote control car to go on it
Extensive wooden train set with trains
Building blocks
Big box of Duplo
A wooden farm with animals
Lots of books
Lots of cars
A bike
A rocking horse
A bounce and spin zebra
A mat with roads etc on it for the cars
Paper and crayons/pencils

He plays with the cars and the trains most of all. He likes Peppa Pig, Thomas and Ben and Holly on TV if that helps?

I want to get him something he will love and play with lots. Was looking at Playmobil but not sure if it's too early for anything imaginative. Or the Thomas take n play but too similar to the Geotrax perhaps? Sooo stuck for ideas and need to order soon while there are still offers to be had.

DS turns 3 in December. Last year he got a play kitchen and lots of plastic food, pots and pans... but he has barely looked at it!

His most played with are:

Multi-storey carpark
Weebles tree
Shed loads of cars/neenaws/lorries
Stickers
Crayons/paints/chalk
Ikea train set (with extra track, so quite large)
Piano
He has an on/off relationship with play doh and what we got last year is dry and crumbly and horrible already!

This year he is getting a bike and a wendy house, if we can find one second hand. Plus some bits like sheep rug, little umbrella, funky hat.

He is going to get a big box of helium balloons to open on his birthday! He will be tickled pink Grin

We got dd a toy kitchen when she was 2 and it's still played with all the time - she's 4 now. ds (just 2) likes dinosaur anything, cars, trains, drawing and play doh. He's getting a scooter for Christmas - dd has one and he just wants to be like her! He's also got a dinotrain t-rex, a wooden tool set and a set of plastic dinosaurs as smaller presents. Does yours have something he's into? Otherwise, something you can add to, like duplo or playmobil is good.

Wow toys.

A scooter
A variety of animals from ELC
Stickle bricks
A trampoline
Jig saws
An easel
Remote control car

A massive bruder truck/ can/ lorry/ cement mixer. Played with loads here. A bit £££ but unbreakable and the cement mixer can be use to mix oats/ sand/ mud etc.

Playmobil wise my son got the 123 range farmhouse for his 1st birthday. Still plays with it at 4.5 and resists any idea it should go in the loft.

A cosy coupe, dinosaurs. .

A tablet!

A charity gift? Sponsor a child etc. sounds like he has enough already

BathshebaDarkstone · 16/11/2014 19:58

Thinking about what we got DS age 3 last Christmas. Lots of Thomas stuff, including a Thomas costume! Also lots of talking Thomas trains. Smile

dementedma · 16/11/2014 20:01

Nothing. He has more than enough and won't know if you get him anything or not. Put some money into a bond or savings account. He will love you for it when he's a teenager!

Lovelydiscusfish · 16/11/2014 20:47

Of course he'll know if they get him anything or not, he's 2, not 12 months! My 2 year old would be very aware of it if we bought her nothing for Christmas! Not saying it has to cost a fortune; second hand stuff, craft bits, cheapo dinosaurs etc I'm sure are loved by two year olds just as much as expensive toys. But why buy your two year old nothing, unless you literally can afford nothing, can't get anyone to give you anything you can wrap up for them, etc? Seems strangely mean.

Lovelydiscusfish · 16/11/2014 20:48

Don't mean OP is being mean, just that it would be to follow the advice of those saying buy him nothing.
