wrapping presents

If you have more that 1 child do you wrap their presents in different wrapping paper so you can tell them apart easily?
I've got 3 dc and normally just wrap everything in all sorts of different wrapping paper. I thought this year though I may wrap each child's presents in one type to make it easier on Christmas eve, but I don't want it to look a bit boring (if a load of presents could look boring Smile

I use just three different wrapping papers, one for Christmas day, one for Boxing day, one for Father Christmas (ie stockings). We always spend Christmas day with either my or Dh's extended family and then Boxing day with the other, and it's easy to see that I have picked up all the right presents if I just use two different colours. I don't think it looks boring!

Father Christmas paper is always completely different from any other paper I have used - and has to be kept well hidden so that nobody sees it and twigs! FC presents don't have tags on, so I have to be careful once I have wrapped them not to get them mixed up.

I have 3 dc and their presents in stocking and from father Xmas are wrapped in their own paper so dd will have frozen this year, I hae thomas tank for ds2 and looking for something like Star Wars or Simpsons for ds1. Stuff from us under the tree is then other types of paper and different sorts, no pattern to it. As is presents for family etc.

Different colours for each child after the year when dh tried to help fc and took the presents out of their separate bags and mixed them all up. FC had to peek in lots of presents that year to make sure each dc had correct gifts.

I wrap with brown paper, pretty ribbons and cute tags. This year I got the most beautiful tags... Actually pretty excited to use them Grin.

I wrap FC presents in a naice wrapping paper so they're separate and each DC get the same paper from him with a tag with their name on but other than that just brown paper decorated nicely all round.

Where do people buy their brown paper

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 09/11/2014 13:16

I've never done separate paper for stockings, the DCs probably use some of the same when they do wrapping, we just keep a stash of rolls which are used for everything, they've never noticed.

My mum did exactly the same as WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes, when we were kids, and we never questioned it. I properly believed in FC until I was 10 too. (My mum had to tell me the truth, before I went to secondary school).

I didn't realise people did separate wrapping paper for stockings until I was helping a friend wrap her little boy's presents.

I just have loads of different rolls of wrapping paper and use a mixture for everyone.

AcheyJakey · 14/11/2014 21:24

Scrabbled did you ever suss it was the same wrapping paper in stocking than other presents? I'm wondering if I really do need to bother with separate paper!

Otherwise we just use whatever we have and put names on. Having them all jumbled up seems to cause more fun I think.

ScrabbledLeggsAndToes · 16/11/2014 19:48

I noticed, but it didn't ever click. I just thought Father Christmas used the same design of wrapping paper as my mum.

Thesimplethings · 16/11/2014 20:44

I love seeing presents all wrapped up in traditional paper, each one different from the other. Think 70's/80's sheet wrap from market stalls.

I really don't like the themed stuff but short of buying lots of different rolls there is no choice now.

I'm not old by the way Grin

Yes you do need to bother!!!

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 16/11/2014 20:56

Its like keeping a fox away from blood hound Grin

BathshebaDarkstone · 16/11/2014 21:05

No, I buy one big roll. Only 2 DC and DH and I don't wrap each other's. Smile

BikeRunSki · 16/11/2014 21:06

Different papers with colour coded ribbon?

Purplecircle · 16/11/2014 21:11

I'm one of 4. My mum has always done this. No need for tags then and no one gets mixed up

blacktreaclecat · 16/11/2014 21:14

I only have 1 child and he's only 2, I may have given this too much thought...
Anyway he has Thomas the tank engine paper for his stocking and some animals paper I got in the paper chase sale last year for his downstairs presents.
Everyone else has M&S red and green snowflake paper.
I sent DH to buy the Thomas paper from Poundland and he came back with 4x 3m rolls. DS main presents are already wrapped so we could be using Thomas paper for DS for several years!
