where is the best place to get a bucket of Lego bricks with perhaps some wheels, bases etc in the set?

Everywhere I look seem to have looked only have sets that you make a vehicle which is not what I want.

Happy to spend £10-20.

It just goes on and on OP. Plenty to choose from!

£10 to £20 will get you a good sized Creator Set which will have instructions for three different things. But it sounds like you probably want something from the 'Bricks and More' sets that are more traditional sets of basic bricks, Amazon inevitable has the best prices if you want new rather than second hand.

Argos have a £20 bucket with a range of different things that dd's like.

lego is very expensive.

would be my suggestion if you can stretch to £30. A base board would also be useful.

Otherwise preloved.

HopefulHamster · 29/10/2014 20:45

Base boards are expensive in themselves so that explains the struggle to find a cheap set containing wheels and bases. Agree secondhand is best if you want a decent selection. You could try seeing if amazon ever has any warehouse deals.

bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 29/10/2014 20:58

That set addictedtosugar linked to is £19.99 in argos

Pollywallywinkles · 29/10/2014 21:00

I can't remember basic Lego being that expensive when DD was a child!

It looks like Argos may be a contender. I've found a bucket for £20 which looks like it will fit the bill.

A good idea to see if there are any special Amazon deals.

Thanks for the eBay links, not sure I want to buy second hand for the first set unless it is in a bucket, but certainly worthwhile if I want to add to the collection.

Wished I'd saved DDs Lego and Duplo.

We crossed posts there; I have found the Argos one.

It has actually become cheaper!

And looking at that I was buying around its peak price. But can't remember it being particularly pricy, not cheap, but not something expensive. But then again who can remember what most things cost 25-27 years ago?

My Dad (late 60s) recalls it being very expensive when we were children. I was complaining about the cost...

I got a Duplo set for DD1 in the run up to Christmas last year. It came in a big tub. It was the crazy pre-Christmas flash sale that Amazon do after Black Friday. We have added to it from eBay since then.

The base plates are sooooo expensive! £20!!!

There are Lego compatible base plates in Wilkos for a few pounds each. They are quite big and really good value for money. They also sell Lego compatible building blocks.

Pollywallywinkles · 31/10/2014 18:11

I got the bricks and more bucket from Argos and a base from one of the toy shops.

We will be able to add to it with preloved in the future.
