Looking for something a bit 'different' I guess. They don't need anything techy or straighteners or anything like that. Will do them the usual stocking stuffed with hairspray etc, and the usual PJs, knickers and socks, but any ideas for something that feels substantial and exciting, that is an actual gift rather than a voucher or money, or an 'experience' would be much appreciated. :)

Posh fairy lights and fur throws both good ideas. DD1 has both already, but they could be upgraded. :)

They are my daughters - I will probably still be calling them 'girls' when they are 40!

I know you said not 'experiences' but how about tickets to something? A concert, a comedy show...?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/10/2014 20:05

Thank you. Again, good ideas - but it's things to open that I'm after inspiration for.

A scarf is a good suggestion - dd1 would like that a lot, dd2 not so much (not interested in clothes at all).

How about:
New phone case/shell
Handbag or shopping bag
Smellies from Lush

Things a bit 'out there':
Popcorn maker
Chocolate tasting kit
Hamper for a movie night- film, blanket, popcorn, sweets.
A DCUK duck with their name.

A make up lesson at Harrods (or similar) followed by cash for make up.

schmalice · 28/10/2014 21:44

I remember when I was that age my mum got me a food processor and a toolkit (she liked to cover all bases!). I scoffed at the tool but I still use it 10 years later!

elastamum · 28/10/2014 21:46

Onesie from one piece. Lovely!

BettyFocker · 28/10/2014 22:10

A neutrel makeup palette from somewhere really nice like MAC or Bobbi Brown?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/10/2014 15:00

Thanks for these.

DD1 would like make up (probably Benefit or Urban Decay) but dd2 doesn't wear it.

What does your DD2 like doing? Seems like a lot of this would be suitable for DD1, but not her!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/10/2014 15:47

DD2 likes art, music and moaning. Grin

Underwear from Victoria's Secret
Nike trainers (can't remember the name of the model but my 17/18 year old loves them)
Sports/aerobics/yoga stuff from Sweaty Betty or similar
Cocktail shaker and cocktail book and little umbrellas
Apparently Polaroid camera are 'in' at the moment (mini ones from Urban Outfitters)

soaccidentprone · 29/10/2014 15:55

one of these?

Arlagirl · 29/10/2014 15:56

I bought dd a Tassimo machine last year which went down well.

Ormally · 29/10/2014 22:22

Silly ice cube tray? (I rather liked one I got that made diamond shaped ice shapes, as in princess-cut diamonds!)

Really upmarket tights, not too novelty - ones you wouldn't buy for yourself.

Mini Benefit set (usually found near the counters in Boots where I live)

Ormally · 29/10/2014 22:31

..Ooh, ooh, and a Starbucks pre-loaded card with a tenner or so (or a.n. other coffee chain if you have ethical objections) - they are such a treat in the new year!

FelixFelix · 29/10/2014 22:39

What about an instant camera? My DP got me an Instax Mini for my birthday this year and it's amazing. Cheaper than a Polaroid and cooler looking. You can buy them in different colours and are small enough to stick in your handbag on a day out. You can even get films with multicoloured/patterned frames rather than the usual white frame it prints out. Also, it's EXTREMELY flattering and everyone looks fabulous on the photos. I love mine Grin

Matalan alphabet scarf.

Lurleene · 29/10/2014 22:54

If my 18 yo old DD is anything to go by - a voucher for the tattoo parlour would do the trick Sad. (I am not getting her this, I am getting her a tablet).

Do they like baking? I am putting together a baking box for my niece full of cake sprinkles, edible glitter, utensils etc etc.

twolittledarlings · 29/10/2014 23:43

If they wear earrings then I recommend The Little Book of Earrings

I've got 3 of these for my friends girls who are that age. They are brilliant. My girls got these 2yrs ago.
Also recommend a beanbag, my girls got these last year from bean bag bazaar and they were a hit.

They are also getting Starbucks voucher and Itune vouchers.
Nail Art Pens
Rucksack
Handbags and wallets
CDs
Lots of books
Usual smelly, bath stuff etc
Dressing gown, duvet set, onesies, slippers and fluffy socks
Magazine sub
Fluffy jumpers and cardigan
Stacker for jewellery from John Lewis
Ice watch
DIY nail art book from amazon
Stationery stuff
