I haven't eaten turkey at Christmas for the last 7 years since my Mum died Sad
She loved turkey and I always bought a fresh one for her at a ridiculous price
I thought we would go back to traditional turkey this year
Any advice where to buy and what to buy

Why not try a turkey crown topped with bacon? It's still traditional and easier to cook, any good butcher does them :)

For the last few years we have ordered a white turkey (as opposed to bronze) online from Booths and then collected in store 23/24 Dec. Never had any problems, just really good service. Last years turkey cost £46 and weighed about 7.5kg.

Most supermarkets/stores now have order and collect systems in place including online and in store brochures.
Or you could order from a local butcher/farm.
Or you could buy a frozen turkey - usually cheaper than fresh and often do well in tests when compared to fresh. I just worry about the thawing.

I would like to try a turkey crown but DH insists on a whole turkey so that he will have enough meat juices to make the gravy.
