Budget presents for 0-6 year olds

We're on a tight budget this year and are managing to save in other ways but wondering if anyone has any bright ideas for how to save on gifts for kids?

We receive a present for our DDs from all our friends and give to their children in return. That's 6 children to give to, from newborn to a six year old. I'd normally spend £10-15 on each of them but that will be too much this year. I'm happy to have a homemade element but nothing too tricky!

Does anyone else suffer guilt for not spending the same as someone spends on you?!?

All ideas very gratefully received!

I would look on the book people and get a lovely book for each of them, with a 99p selection box. Some of the collections of books can be split and they work out very cheap but nice.

Books can be very cheap from the works or home bargains, or you could get paper, colouring books, pens and crayons. You could also maybe bake and ice some biscuits with your own dc to give to their friends

I also have my cousins dc to buy for, they're 8, 3 and 1 and I got them a book each and a tube of sweets and only spent £10 for all 3 of them

Elc got 50% off quite a few things for half term wk I think.. Would mean that your gift was worth more Smile

I feel your pain! I've bought books for friends' children from the current Amazon 4 for £10 promo running at the minute: amazon
I add some colouring pencils if it doesn't seem "enough" but try not to feel any guilt!
Check out the Christmas bargains threads too for lots of ideas.

Sainsburys and toys r us also have half past price stuff at the moment.
The works is a good place to look also.
Newborns don't really need presents. Can you not agree amongst the families to cut back this year and only buy for kids that will notice?

Yes definitely a book and a big tube of sweets from a pound shop.

Melissa n Doug pet stamper set has been around £4 on Amazon and is lovely n looks more expensive n I have brought for friends child.

Also Amazon have had skylander box set puzzles for around £4 great for 5-8yr olds and again I have brought for friends child

Find things that usually cost more but are on offer - eg I found a Cars dvd on Amazon for £3 and also Happy Feet for the same amount (sometimes you need to look at other seller selling through Amazon).

Thanks so much, feeling a bit calmer now!

Got a newborn here, as well as a toddler, so I'll get scouring all your online suggestions during one of our marathon middle of the night feeding sessions tonight!

Thanks again.
