Hi. I'm hoping to get my dcs scooters for Christmas. They are 3 and 6. I know the micro scooters are best, but so expensive. Can anyone recommend a slightly more economical but good scooter? Thanks.

I got dd, aged 3, a minnie mouse 3 wheeled scooter from B&M for £20. She has scooted around on it all summer and it is still in perfect condition. Depends what you want from it really x

I want them to use them for the school run mainly. Just to get about. To hopefully stop the dawdling.

B&m cheap and cheerful and it's been well hammered all year.

Agree that Micro Scooters are very expensive. OzBozz Twister model are virtually idential and 25% of the price. Definitely worth getting to start with in my opinion. BUT - having had both - Micro are definitely made from hardier materials and last much much longer, meaning that you will get a resale (probably) whereas the OzBozz will end up in the bin when finished with. One of our DCs got a MS (bought by a relative), and the other has had TWO OzBozz (bought by us) in the same period. Still cheaper, however the MS is still going, whereas OzBozz x 2 are both binned. Micro will probably sold on for at least £15 or more, if local selling sites are to be believed. SO, it depends how long you think you'll be using it and how much they'll be used (ours cover at least a mile a day).

Just to add, as I have just worked it out, that the Micro is now 3 yrs old, used almost daily, still going strong. I really loved the OzBozz but would say life span is more like 1 yr, depending on how hard it is hammered (mine like to do all sorts of crazy things!).

Microscoooters are really the best for 3 wheelers, but Razor do really good 2 wheelers for £30.

They are super quiet, and you can buy spare wheels and grips in cool designs etc. just as you would with more expensive scooters. My children are not into skate parks, or doing tricks, so the standard entry level (cheap!) one is great.

Having had cheap ones I got a mini micro and a 2 wheel micro for my DC of similar age. We use them to do school run every day . I scoot the big one back too. They sell on at 80% of new price - I ended up getting new as 2nd hand are hard to get as they sell so fast.
