penny skateboard

DD1(11) has asked for a penny skateboard for Christmas. The one she wants is very "pretty" and can see why she likes it. I wanted to get feedback on whether they are any good because they are not cheap (we can afford and it is a nice change from the normal request for an electrical gadget it so would be happy to buy if good quality and we are not just paying for the look of it).

I get them for my two boys last year from pennyskateboards.com - huge success. They use them all the time, really sturdy and good quality and fun to design your own. Definitely worth the money I think. We have a big level patio which helps - they race around like mad meant building jump ramps etc...

Watching with interest as my nearly 7yo has asked for one of these. I'm not convinced he'd actually know what to do with it although he's fairly nippy on his scooter!

Celestialsquirrels do you mind me asking how old your boys were when they got them?

DancingDinosaur · 22/10/2014 23:49

Yes dc have one. They are really really good. I doubt you would be disappointed with it.

They were just 10 and just 13
But my 8 year old dd is constantly on them as well so I would say good from 7-17 tbh

thanks, all. That is her sorted then!

Thanks Celestial! They do look fun, I just need to get over my fear of DS knocking his front teeth out!

celestialsquirrels · 23/10/2014 12:48

They aren't too silly on them
They are also used a lot for other things etc sitting on them to be pulled around by brother each holding the end of a skipping rope and they are the perfect size to plonk a fat guinea pig on to give them a ride Grin

JoanCallamezzo · 23/10/2014 17:13

[Grin] Funnily enough, that's DS's other most desired item - a guinea pig!

JoanCallamezzo · 23/10/2014 17:13

Why didn't my Grin work?!

TooMuchCantBreathe · 23/10/2014 17:32

Dd (10) has one, she loves it, rides it to school, goes out with friends etc. She's very good on it thanks to her 17yo sister showing her the ropes (crouch downhill or you'll face plant - found out by older dd Grin). In our house they get all the dc outside. We went for the £35 ones from eBay though. 1yr on they are still great although the bearings need oiling regularly. Dd (10) got a white one and a pack of sharpies to decorate it!

DD 12 loves them but they are definitely more fun if a friend/sibling has one too. They come out here at every sleepover etc.

We have the big ones as they were bought for her brothers who were late teens but I think if I'd bought for her she would have preferred the small one.

Definitely happy we've had our money's worth many times over.
