Getting the DC's these for Christmas, silly question but can I register them both on my Amazon account for books?

I'm pretty sure you can.

I'm not sure how you then stop them from reading your Black Lace steamy shockers though.

Will have to get rid of Lace and 50 Shades but early introduction to Jilly won't do them any harm

Grin Jilly is not very racy really.

But my kindle fire isn't very popular with the children - not very many games and hardly any free ones compared to a cheap android tablet - but you can easily put the Kindle app on a tablet. Do they particularly need a kindle rather than something Android? It's got a shiny screen so not great for reading books on and not brilliant battery life IMHO

My brother (8) and sister (11) both have kindle fires and are hooked to my mums account. There's parental controls to stop from buying apps and books. They love them and you can get all the standard games such as angry birds, temple run etc. :)

As long as they can get those and Minecraft for DD then we will be fine. Open to other suggestions, the only thing we have in the house is my iPhone so this is new territory for us (only got the iPhone in May as I had moved work and could take a mobile to work).

Yep you can get Minecraft on it too. :) Personally I think Kindles are lovely because they can have the books on there rather than just a normal tablet which would just be used for apps.
