Christmas Cake Feeding

TBH I'm going to order a Christmas Cake Mix, because in previous years I've found it very expensive to buy all the ingredients, a large amount of which sits in the cupboard until it eventually goes out of date, dried fruit and specific types of sugar etc. But I still want to bake my own cake.

Anyway confession over (good quality kit BTW) I was wondering what you all use to feed your cakes, brandy? I have some left from last years cake, but I was thinking ameretto might be nice instead.

Amaretto sounds amazing in theory but not sure if it would be too sugary? I'm going to use dark rum Smile

I use Amarretto ( Aldis own brand bottle lurking in my pantry) to soak the fruit, feed the cake and make marzipan.

I use caster sugar, white nuts and sultanas. Not too sugary.

(I don't like rum and my DH would weep if I used whisky or brandy, too good for cake) Wink

Aldi ameretto sounds good, might have to sample it over ice first though, just for research purposes.

I have previously used amaretto with good effect but also Grand Marnier or Cointreau is nice.

www.ringtons.co.uk £7.49 with free p&p. Haven't tried it myself but a friend at work has bought from them before, generally they're pretty good.

No icing or marzipan from what i can see, but I prefer to make my own anyway.
