Christmas Cake Feeding

TBH I'm going to order a Christmas Cake Mix, because in previous years I've found it very expensive to buy all the ingredients, a large amount of which sits in the cupboard until it eventually goes out of date, dried fruit and specific types of sugar etc. But I still want to bake my own cake.

Anyway confession over (good quality kit BTW) I was wondering what you all use to feed your cakes, brandy? I have some left from last years cake, but I was thinking ameretto might be nice instead.

Amaretto sounds amazing in theory but not sure if it would be too sugary? I'm going to use dark rum Smile

I do love dark rum :)

I use Amarretto ( Aldis own brand bottle lurking in my pantry) to soak the fruit, feed the cake and make marzipan.

I use caster sugar, white nuts and sultanas. Not too sugary.

(I don't like rum and my DH would weep if I used whisky or brandy, too good for cake) Wink

Aldi ameretto sounds good, might have to sample it over ice first though, just for research purposes.

Ooh so amaretto would work then? This intrigues me Grin

Sherry!

I have previously used amaretto with good effect but also Grand Marnier or Cointreau is nice.

Where are you ordering your kit from?

I need an easy option this year

MrsLindor · 18/10/2014 18:07

www.ringtons.co.uk £7.49 with free p&p. Haven't tried it myself but a friend at work has bought from them before, generally they're pretty good.

No icing or marzipan from what i can see, but I prefer to make my own anyway.
