Need a DVD for our Xmas Eve hamper and we haven't seen Frozen yet and I really fancy it - but is it Christmassy enough to get us in the mood or would you recommend a more specifically Christmas film?

PS I don't fancy Die Hard and we have Elf, Fred Claus, Miracle on 34th Street and Jingle all the way already

It's a great film but not especially Christmassy in my opinion

disneymum3 · 15/10/2014 14:09

No I wouldn't say so.
Maybe try a Muppets Christmas Carol

nancy75 · 15/10/2014 14:09

Not really Christmassy, it just has lots of snow! Have you got the santa clause? that is quite good

littlemslazybones · 15/10/2014 14:09

Anything with snow is Christmassy, it's the LAW.

FeelingScaredAndWorried · 15/10/2014 14:12

I think it has a christmassy feel because of the ice, yes.

Nativity is a great Christmas imo, really funny. Theres a 1 and 2.

FeelingScaredAndWorried · 15/10/2014 14:13

Oops missed out the word FILM there. Nativity is a great Christmas FILM.

RunawayReindeer · 15/10/2014 14:14

It's wintery, and a great sing a long... I watch it currently at least 5 times a week... but I agree it's probably not the MOST Christmassy disney film ever :) try nativity or nativity 2? The greatest store in the world, home alone, Santa Claus 1234etc etc. Arthur Christmas is meant to be good? Not seen it myself.

RunawayReindeer · 15/10/2014 14:14

X post nativity fan :Wink

Szeli · 15/10/2014 14:14

oh we have nativity too.

that was the angle i was hoping for littlems but we may be overuled!

is there anything else disney-ish that the 20mo might sit thru some of?

i might just have to put frozen on my christmas list instead!

I was going to say wintery too.

We always watch the animated version of a Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve. It's lovely.

Technicolourtats · 15/10/2014 14:15

Not very Christmassy but wintery! I love it

Szeli · 15/10/2014 14:16

and we have home alone. not seen santa clausE yet

I loved Arthur Christmas, very Christmassy and sweet without being sickly.

BoysiesBack · 15/10/2014 14:17

I'd go with Arthur Christmas, fantastic film.

Froze isn't Christmassy and I hated it

OneSkinnyChip · 15/10/2014 14:17

Darn it, I was going to say Nativity but you have it :o

RunawayReindeer · 15/10/2014 14:50

Have you tried mickeys once upon a Christmas with the 20mo? I quite enjoyed it there's five different stories I think- Minnie and daisy having a skate off (v amusing), goofy and his son which is really nice and heartwarming, Pluto running away to join the reindeers, Donald Duck being Scrooges and not singing we wish you a merry Christmas and one where Huey duey and louey try and get on th good list by stealing it from FC?

Definitely worth a watch and each one is in a handy half an hour segment :)

RunawayReindeer · 15/10/2014 14:51

Actually that one is mickeys twice upon a Christmas, apparently once upon a hristmas is around too! Ink I'll get that one for this year :)

Mummyboo30 · 15/10/2014 14:55

I second that, RunawayReindeer. And once you're done with that, there's also mickeys twice upon a christmas! They are nice movies and easy to break down for young'uns.
Frozen isn't christmassy although I love it!

Notso · 15/10/2014 15:10

My two youngest were three and 20 months last year and LOVED Mickeys once upon a Christmas.

We watched Frozen in the cinema and I didn't feel remotely Christmassy. I thought it was ok, I don't really get why other grown ups love it so much.

My DC's have to watch Home Alone, The Santa Clause movies, The Snowman and Elf in December.

Notso · 15/10/2014 15:13

Lots of people love Polar Express, it always gets recommended on here.
I wasn't keen and DC didn't really take to it either though.

LilithTheKitty · 15/10/2014 15:14

Muppet's Christmas carol is our traditional Christmas eve film.

poolomoomon · 15/10/2014 15:57

No it has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas I'm afraid. It's wintery but nothing remotely Christmassy about it.

I'd suggest Elf, polar express or national lampoons christmas vacation. Depends if there's children watching too but white Christmas and holiday inn are great ones too but more for adults.

Charlilou490 · 15/10/2014 15:59

There is a nativity 3 due out this year!...but only at cinema Envy

I'm planning on putting Frozen in our CEH. My dds will not want to only watch a film they like only once, and I will not want to be watching a really xmassy film a fortnight after xmas. I'm putting the xmassy dvds as treats in the advent calendar earlier on (we're going for The Snowman and the cartoon of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas).
