Christmas presents for dd (4) sylvanians?

Not really sure what to get for dd for Christmas. Wondered about sylvanians. Does anyone know if there is much play value in the school and church or is the treehouse better? She has an elc dolls house so wondered if that would do instead of a sylvanian house. I just don't know what she will play with!! Any help from sylvanian experts?!

Hi Clairemum

I am a old-skool sylvanian expert!

My 4 yo has my old sylvanian house and the new village store. She plays very well with the house; the store is a bit tricky for her because it's got a LOT of teeny tiny bits which she gets frustrated by.

When she saw the sylvanian brochure she said she preferred the tree house to the school. I had thought I'd get her the treehouse and a few of the 'children's' accessories to fill it out (as it doesn't come with anything I seem to remember). Although actually she's ending up with something else.

Thank you! What are you going for instead, out of interest?

My daughter played with everything. She's thirteen now and has sadly outgrown them but had many happy hours with her 'fuzzy critters'...even her younger brothers played with them! We've now passed everything down to DNiece so they continue to be enjoyed. I'd say that the big house had the best play value. I'd go for that over purchasing a number of smaller sets. The boys eventually used the house for their action figures after they'd outgrown the little animals Confused.

Father Christmas has bought her a traditional style wooden dolls house.

I had every intention of going for sylvanian families, but she's already got my house and the shop and a campervan and she actually doesn't spend that much time playing with it - only because it has to live in her bedroom because her little brother (2yo) loves to come and wreck the whole bloody lot and loose all the pieces help.

I just thought that maybe she's got enough for now and that there's loads of time for her to grow her collection (I didn't start until I was 11!). Then I remembered how her little face light up when she saw this big 'proper' dolls house in Hobbycraft.

Her little brother is getting a wooden farm set (proper one all to scale, with same scale tractors - I'm very excited!!). To be honest, I'm feeling a bit worried that she might prefer his.

Other options for mine is 'proper' lego (rather than duplo). She's got one tiny little lego car which she loves dismantling and trying to put back together. That will probably be one for her b'day.
