I have had calls for a ham from several family members, what else can I serve? I thought a buffet would be easier than a sit down meal- and we have a vegan too so some veggie numbers would be good. I don't want too much effort as I will be cooking for 10 on christmas day, so if things can be shop bought smoked salmon etc or prepped before would be great.

Joint of ham cooked a couple of days before, any left over turkey, some bread, cheeses and crackers, and salad stuff, olives, hard boiled eggs, boiled new potatoes with butter.

Maybe some roasted Mediterranean vegetables and some wraps so people can make there own.

A really nice rice/bulgar wheat salad for the vegan with pomegranate seeds in as they always looks Christmassy. I wouldn't bother doing a specific vegan dish just lots of lovely vegan salads that the guest & everyone else can have. A roast butternut squash & pecan salad would be nice? You could always do roasted squash as a side dish for Christmas and the. Save some for Boxing Day.

Could you do a festive quiche with cranberries etc? Pre make and freeze

puff pastry with cheese, pesto and sundried tomato - very quick

New potatoes with herbs or potato salad

I would buy the rolls that you can heat in the oven for twenty minutes - they would be lovely and warm to serve

Definitely a large gammon and left over turkey

Lots of cocktail sausages

You're a saint to do that much cooking over Christmas - I hope you are appreciated :)

Thanks mrsgrumble & everyone.

Vegan & husband will be staying with me for 3 weeks over the festive period- they live abroad. So yes I do have my work cut out.

Jacket potatoes. Large pot of chilli, cheese, beans, coleslaw, salad and sliced ham. You can get vegan cheese too. I did this for DH'S birthday in the summer for a similar amount of people and it cost £25 for the food. The prep took half an hour and serving was a simple case of putting everything out on the table and people helping themselves. It was the most stress free mass cater I have ever done and the food went down a storm.

Gammon, veggie quiche, potato salad or jacket potatoes, salad, cheese and crackers and pickles.
Garlic bread is always popular in my house.

I usually have these numbers too.

I always cook a ham in coke. Left over turkey. Lots of great cheese. Salads. Hot bread. Pickles. Pate.

And you can never have enough crisps and dips!

Get the M&S Christmas food catalogue. If you can afford to, order it all from there. If not, just drool peruse and then steal their ideas.
