Help please MNers. I have two boys to buy for a little token thing for. 12 & 14. ish. I think.

What on earth do teenage boys like?!

Is Lego just a complete insult?

About £10 would be ideal. Bit more if need be.

Lego?
GrinGrinGrin

Well, in our house anyway!

A £10 note would be the most welcomeWink

Fragglewump · 09/10/2014 16:51

My 14 year old dss would love money for fags and beer. . He won't be getting cash. He'll have new headphones, a tshirts with his favourite band on it and tickets to a gig. Smellies go down well too with most teenage boys. Or google play or iTunes gift cards - depending on what brand of phone/tablet that they have.

cooki3monst3r · 09/10/2014 16:52

Whoops. So when lego list stuff as "12+" that's not true then?

Good job I checked with the experts!

Mmm... itunes voucher will be the last resort if I can't think of anything more tangible.

I have two preschoolers. All of a sudden not looking forward to the teenage years! eek!

bigTillyMint · 09/10/2014 16:57

Well, maybe some 12year olds still play with Lego.
Actually, I love it and I'm 50Grin

cooki3monst3r · 09/10/2014 17:17

That was my logic too bigtilly!

I wonder if, secretly, even though they wouldn't ask for it, a mini lego set from a crazy distant relative might actually get used??

Lynx gift set for the older one?

A DVD from the top10?

Tesco (and presumably other supermarkets!) usually go giant bars of Galaxy, to tubes of Jaffa Cakes, which would probably go down well.

cooki3monst3r · 09/10/2014 18:12

Thanks Leeds - good ideas. I've just looked and seen boots have a Topman smelly set thing for cheap. Might get that.

Lego make "Bionicles" which build up into a robot type model. My DS used to have loads of them.
I scopped them all up in a bag to donate to the Charity Shop , telling DS (who is now nearly 15) that he was too old, the bits got everywhere and a younger boy would be delighted to be bought this haul.
He agreed.................then my Dad bought him a new one and the whole thing nearly started off again.
They come in boxes so in theory you can contain them.

OverAndAbove · 09/10/2014 19:42

Amazon voucher or a crisp tenner. Or a gigantic novelty-type bar of chocolate (yard of Dairy Milk or similar)

bootygirl · 12/10/2014 13:36

Mine are12 & 13.
They would love cinema voucher, iTunes, Linx set, anything sweet ie chocolate jelly Beans!
The love novelty slippers and noise get them in primary cheaply, DVDs

bootygirl · 12/10/2014 13:38

That should read onies !! Older guy likes t-shirts with funny slogans. Again primary have them.

BertieBotts · 12/10/2014 13:38

A mini or novelty enough lego set might just be cool enough to pass muster.

Safe bet would be itunes voucher assuming they're apple fans and not android.

Any kind of gadget type thing.

bootygirl · 12/10/2014 13:39

Bloody predictive text! It's primark!

BertieBotts · 12/10/2014 13:41

I saw some headphones which have a mini plastic burger and chips on the earpieces, they looked fun!

ihatethecold · 12/10/2014 13:52

My ds14 would like Xbox points purchased from Game.

Smellies.
Chocolate.
Socks and pants from Jack Jones.
Money!

SilasGreenback · 12/10/2014 14:02

Mine (13 & 15) would hate Lynx or other gift set smellies aimed at teen boys. They do like a nice bottle of molten brown shower gel.

MTWTFSS · 12/10/2014 14:40

Shower radio + nice mens shower gel :)

Artandco · 12/10/2014 14:50

Nephew is 15 here. He wouldn't wear lynx, or like 'funny' headphones etc as would say they don't work properly! He wouldn't mind:

Superdry beanie
Lindt chocolate balls
Kiehls or tom ford toiletries
Kindle voucher ( aka amazon)

Less is def more now. Dn would def prefer a tiny good hand creme to a box set of other toiletries

bluesky · 12/10/2014 14:55

Mine doesnt like slippers, but instead loves the snuggly thick socks, think his pair are from joules, so he will have more of those at xmas.

Big bar choc, agree £10 note, spare headphone ear buds always useful.

Cool tshirt from his fave movie or comic type thing. My ds recently saved up for the Guardians of the Galaxy CD, its really good.

cooki3monst3r · 12/10/2014 14:56

SilasGreenback your boys have obviously become accustomed to a way of life they indeed you to keep them in!! Wink

Thanks for your suggestions every one. I went with a giant tube of sweets - very uninspiring but at least they're ticked off the list!

I've got a 15 year old to buy for... was thinking about this money stash keyring with a fiver in it.

Do you think that would go down well?

Rosedust · 12/10/2014 17:05

Or how about a giant gummy bear on a stick?!
