Small and inexpensive presents for advent calendars?

Any ideas please? Has anyone seen any bargains?

I've been wanting to make advent calendars for years, but never get my arse in gear in time. This year I'm on track!

I'm going to put chocolate coins in the small pockets, but also wanted to include some little gifts in the larger ones.

I've got 16, 13 and 8 year olds

Thank you! Flowers

Little perfume/aftershave testers for the bigger ones? Free in lots of department stores.

Stationary works for lots of ages, you could split a pack of tiny rubbers or highlighters or whatever?

Packet of seeds to plant in spring?
Voucher for a dvd rental on Christmas eve?
single sheet of cute writing paper and envelope (artbox) in cellophane?

Little finger puppets always go down well with my DS. He can put on a Christmas Eve puppet show with them all.

We do advent activities, one each day, I try and make as many of them things that we would be doing anyway e.g. watch a Christmassy film, go to a pantomime, go iceskating, make a christmas tree decoration and lots of smaller things that cost a lot less. I've been doing this since the kids are small so they are pretty engaged in it as a Christmas tradition, with a 16 year old it might not go down so well if you did that for the first time exclusively, but it might be an idea to have some Christmassy treats that you are planning anyway as some of the advents gifts.

I rely heavily on pick&mix sweets for ours! Also do pencils, rubbers, pens occasionally.

Thanks all! Fab ideas!

I picked up a little twin pack of nail varnish in town earlier for £1 which I'll split for the older 2.

We're going to a panto on Christmas Eve, so their tickets can go in the last pocket.

Thanks!
