Not electronics/games for once (dd spent her birthday money & savings on a tablet, and now doesn't seem to hanker after anything else)

Was wondering about either a really nice hoody - she doesn't do labels so far, but maybe look for something fashionable. Perhaps a Dr Who/Hunger Games/Harry Potter t-shirt but it's hard to know what would be 'right' IYKWIM

Would love to know what others are getting!

We have the library set, dd has read them a number of times Smile, I'm getting stuck with what books to buy her next! she loved the HP books, I got her Hunger games last year and she has just finished the Narnia books, her room is full of books as she will read them over and over, I think she has read the HP books 10+ times ( they look worn out ).

inchoccyheaven · 07/10/2014 21:55

I don't know what they are like but the book people had maze runner set of books which is to do with the film out soon. ds2 has read hunger games so getting him them.

twolittledarlings · 07/10/2014 22:00

Marne2 if your daughter loves doing her nails, get her the Klutz nail style studio book. It's great. Got these for my girls lays year and they were a hit.

Also recommend the little book of earrings for all those girls with their ears pierced. Really handy to keep earrings organised. Can get them on Amazon, ebay etc.

twolittledarlings · 07/10/2014 22:04

Taker, the Divergent film is brilliant. If your daughter loves Hunger Games, she will love this. My daughter has watched this loads of times. She has also read the three books in the series, so have I. Cannot put the books down.

Now, she wants to see the Maze Runner film which is very similar to those types of films. Have just finished the Maze Runner book which she read in 3days. Now reading book 2.

twolittledarlings · 07/10/2014 22:08

Taker, I got these headphones from Amazon and for the price, they are very good. Got 3 pairs lays year and they are still going strong

Just type in Sony MDR-ZX100W Outdoor Headband Headphones - White
in the Amazon search. Paid £10 for it then.

twolittledarlings · 07/10/2014 22:16

Last year, both my daughters got a beanbag each as one of their main presents which was a great hit. I got the XXL teardrop adult beanbag from the Beanbag bazaar website. They have gaming ones there too.
The beanbags are so comfy and as I got the XXL adult size, they support their head so great for sitting on for reading.

twolittledarlings · 07/10/2014 22:18

I second the personalised coke bottles. Planning on giving them to each of my daughters friends with a bar of chocs and a pair of fluffy socks.

twolittledarlings · 07/10/2014 22:24

All teenager loves Sharpie pens. You can get them for £7 in WHSmiths when u buy any other back to school stuff. I got a little calculator for £1 tin order to get the Sharpie pens,
Amazon sells them for £10 and Tesco £20.

Well worth it.

twolittledarlings · 07/10/2014 22:24

Those Sharpie pens are a pack of 24

twolittledarlings · 07/10/2014 22:29

Also may get my girls a teenager magazine subscription

chicaguapa · 08/10/2014 07:17

The Polaroid camera is a cracking idea. DD would love that. The photos are expensive though! I wonder if the price will come down?

Hulababy · 02/11/2014 19:31

Where do you buy the personalised coke bottles?
Or are they just the ones in the shops - DD's name isn't on one yet

Never mind teenagers I need 24 Sharpie pens!

My DD (12) has her Christmas List written up on the wall (wipe off board so she can update it )

So far:

clothes (she was hankering after something Superdry. I said I might get her T Shirts because they are good quality, but I'm not wild about her being basically a walking advert with some of the huge logos)

a trampoline (she's a gymnast)

earrings (already got a few from eBay, miles cheaper than instore)

She's had some training shoes (not a Christmas present, she needs something on her feet)
I will get some surprises for her (no idea what though, but I'm working on it)

15yo DS is a simpler proposition - money, Game Voucher, Microsoft Points, Young Driver lessons. Sorted

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/11/2014 22:13

We bought an earring holder last year for DD - it's a small plastic 'board' that stands upright, smaller than I thought but holds 24 pairs. DD only has studs at the moment, I don't know if hoops would fit,

treadheavily · 02/11/2014 22:23

My 12yo's favourite things are her:

  • iPod
  • Kobo
  • tablet
  • polaroid camera
  • digital camera
  • sewing machine

She always likes getting clothes but does prefer to choose her own so now I give her some cash, movie money and little things like earrings and dvds.

mysteryfairy · 02/11/2014 23:03

My DD (turns 13 in January) has asked for GHDs and a hair dryer - bought as a double pack so will be interesting to see if the ghd dryer justifies the cost. She has tons of hair so takes ages to dry so any improvement will be welcome.

She has asked for real techniques make up brushes which seem like a good middle ground between Primark/Superdrug cheapies and premium.

Books wise I've bought the maze runner books after she enjoyed the film. She will be getting the latest Jacqueline Wilson Victorian book though I doubt she'll admit it to anyone but I suspect she will read that first. Also the latest Lauren Child Ruby Redfort novel.

She's just had a new pair of uggs (hoping her feet have stopped growing but if not she can hand down to me)! She would have had these for Xmas if her immediate need for footwear had not been overwhelming.

Hulababy · 03/11/2014 07:39

Yes I saw that but just says coming soon

Takver · 05/11/2014 16:20

I wondered saw that 'coming soon' for personalised bottles, too Hula (and also I wondered if they were full or just an empty bottle?)

Guitargirl · 05/11/2014 16:30

Takver - the personalised coke bottles are a full small glass bottle of coke. I ordered 3 last month and they were delivered last week. But now for the Christmas season they seem to be doing Christmas small glass bottles of coke but they are not personalised. At least that's how I have understood it.

dingit · 05/11/2014 16:37

The maze runner books are a bargain on book people £4.99.

dingit · 05/11/2014 16:43

My ds 13 so far has

DVD ( Tom and Jerry)
Burger cookbook with shaper.
Geography encyclopaedia
Straw pipes ( you link them)
Angry bird key ring
Phone case
Shower gels ( Ben 10 colour changing, bit babyish but he will like them)
Cheap game for x box
Magnetic Dart board
Maze runner books
Sharpies

All for stocking

slug · 05/11/2014 16:57

Dd (13) always gets gift cards

H&M (so she can buy her own clothes without dragging me along)
Accessorise
Paperchase

This year she's getting a bean bag for her room
Multiple items from Pylones as she's obsessed with this shop.

We also tend to include some form of tech/science kit (both DH and I work in STEM) In the past this has included a make your own synthesiser and fossils or gemstones

Takver · 05/11/2014 20:46

Thanks, guitargirl - I hadn't realised it was different for Christmas

I'm still trying to persuade DH re. the beanbag gaming chair, he's got a thing against beanbags, not quite sure why, but I'm sure dd would love one.
