Christmas gifts for a 2.5 year old girl?

I'm rubbish at Christmas, but its going to be DD's first one that she might remember. We'll be travelling to the other side of the country, so I don't want to get anything too big!

Can anyone think of some nice gifts?

Oh, and any ideas for a nearly 5 year old boy would be very welcome, too!

I have a 2.5 dn and I'm planning on getting her lego duplo.

VashtaNerada · 04/10/2014 14:46

Dinosaurs, robot, little play people and house (Happyland?), teaset, play kitchen, play tools, cars and/or garage, sticker book.

The belle and boo tea set is lightweight. My dd got it when she turned 1yr. She is now 3.5 and plays with it everyday.

My 5yr old is into hot wheels, turtles, maths and science.

Ok, this is what we have that is small and gets played with a lot by all three children (we have DD1 (7), DD2 (5), and DS (2)). Struggling to think of things for DS because we have everything already so any suggests for a 2 year old boy gratefully received.

Accessories for toy kitchen (do you have a toy kitchen, if not get one, it's still the toy that gets played with every day), toy food, plates, teaset etc
Finger or hand puppets
Duplo (don't bother with megabloks, Duplo is the best)
Playmobil 123 (I rate this higher than normal playmobil, mainly because we don't keep losing bits)
wooden railway (Brio do the best accessories)
musical instruments
Schleich animals
Budkin figures
Mr Potato Head
playdough (although homemade is better)
simple jigsaws including block puzzles

My 2.5 year old is getting the duplo train set (if I find a good deal), peppa pig figures and a peppa medical case, a personalised book from penwizard (as she loves her big sister's book) and some stickers books.

At the same age her sister was obsessed with her babies so it she got a pram, new baby doll and baby clothes plus some velcro food (cake and fruit she could pretend to cut up and has had loads of use).

My dd is 2.6 - the more transportable things she is getting are:
Plastic dinosaurs
Bath toys
One of the Thomas the Tank characters she hasn't got yet
Hand puppet
Wooden maracas
Frozen DVD
Splat the Cat book (Splat's Christmas)
A toy gingerbread baking set to go in her toy kitchen
A handbag shaped like a chicken
Chocolate buttons
Stickers
Peppa magic painting book

Lovelydiscusfish · 04/10/2014 18:25

Rugbylovingmum, that Peppa medical kit gets some bad reviews, but my DD LOVES it. Her godfather, who is a dr, bought it for her, so I think she thinks the equipment is real.

limon · 04/10/2014 19:19

Ideas so far for my almost three year old

New wellies
keyboard (she loves them)
Clothes
books

Rugbylovingmum · 05/10/2014 09:06

Thanks Lovelydiscusfish, that's good to know! All the medical sets have mixed reviews and to be honest it's usually the really cheap toy sets with dodgy reviews that get played with in our house. I spotted it in the Argos sale so I thought it was worth a try. At the moment she is using the teensie tiny stethoscope from her duplo vet to check out her teddies so it's got to be better than that!

Lovelydiscusfish · 05/10/2014 19:20

The equipment in the Peppa kit is actually of a pleasingly sturdy quality. Can be quite tricky to stuff it all back in to the oddly shaped carry case, is all I would level against it. Oh, and dd's dgodfather, despite buying it for her, objects to the fact that Peppa is portrayed on the case as a nurse, not a dr, which he feels is gender stereotyping. But I wouldn't have noticed if he hadn't have pointed it out!

Christmas Gifts 2018 for Girls
I found these La Nina toys - really pretty/cute toys and they are hardwearing too. Scroll down for the whole range.

Dd will also be just over 2.5 at Christmas. We're getting her a doll's house as her main present, with some extra furniture to go in it.

I've also ordered her a tea set.

I'll get a sticker book, one of the baby bot bath bombs from lush, some chocolate coins and some new crayons for her stocking. Oh, and some new pants.
