Any ideas for what to do with a just turned 4 year old and nearly 2 year old in London during the Christmas holidays? Want to plan a special day out when we have family visiting. Any ideas for shows suitable for kids this young or any Christmas events/exhibition type things would be great!

If the Snowman is in, it is magical!

check out time out london xmas section and toddler shows.....i think your going to struggle at those ages bt if you find something let us know, i have two year old too.

what's your budget? there are TONNES of theatre things, for all ages. Unicorn has great stuff. Winter Wonderland, if you can stomach that sort of thing. Skating (for the 4 year old - hot chocolate for the little one). Carols. Panto.

Thanks great ideas. Had forgotten about unicorn so will look now. We'll do winter wonderland but not with the visiting relatives

Alexandra Palace Ice Rink has The Snow Queen on from 15th December to 22nd December.

Or massive stealth boast DD2 is in Snow White at Chelmsford Riverside Ice and Leisure. Chelmsford is only 35 minutes on a fast train from Liverpool St. Grin

any tips on when WW is quieter it was hideous last time there couldnt move

We went to winter wonderland mid week about 2 weeks before christmas last year and wasn't too horrendous.

Am thinking about Raymond Briggs' Father Christmas for all of us - says 0-5 years but wondering if my nearly 2 year old will behave - anyone seen it??

Try any of the London museums for free xmas activities and grottos for eg if you go to the natural history museum then there is an ice rink outside. Also the science museum is round the corner with a toddler activity room in the basement called the garden.

The V&A is close by and has a lovely cafe for hot choc and snacks.

Or you could try skating at Somerset house, then cross over Waterloo bridge to the southbank for the national theatre, xmas markets and lots of eating places.

Alternatively jump on a bus down oxford street to see the lights and keep the rest of the day simple.
