FATHER CHRISTMAS in NARNIA!

LadySusanVernon · 23/09/2014 19:57

This is my first Christmas with a toddler (well, he was 18 months last year, but it didn't really count).

OK, he may well cry and hate it, but I have just booked our slots to visit FATHER CHRISTMAS in NARNIA and I'm sorry but I am already excited, and am now officially in the Christmas spirit and nothing can change that.

I've been feeling really down about Christmas for the last few years, because it's been overshadowed by nastiness from my ILs, but now FATHER CHRISTMAS in NARNIA has returned the Christmas spirit to me and no one can take it away!

Also: Christmas in Narnia is the theme for this Christmas. I didn't know I wanted a theme, but now I know I NEED one.

Nobody tell me it's too early, by the way. It's less than 100 days!

I assume op is talking about the one at Penshurst Place in Kent. I love it there.

Narnia grotto

LadySusanVernon · 23/09/2014 21:51

That's right! Penshurst! It's a nice place usually, I bet they do a good job at Christmas.

I am oscillating with excitement!

There is a Green Santa in Belvedere House in Mullingar, where you go through the wardrobe, through the snowy forest with a few stuffed deer in it (polystyrene balls snow), and then in to Santa in green robes, where you meet a woodland creature (baby hedgehog asleep when we went), plant a Christmas tree to take home and he also gives you a candy cane and packet of wildflower meadow seeds to sow in spring.

And there are lovely walks in the grounds, and tour of the main house to do as well, if you want.

Quite magical

I didn't actually check if it's on this year yet, but it has been on the past number of years and loads of friends have been too, and loved it. (We travelled an hour to get there, and others have travelled longer).

dashoflime · 24/09/2014 14:08

I thought the whole point of Narnia was that it was "always winter and never Christmas." I would find Santa out of place and I'm afraid it would prevent me from suspending my disbelief sufficiently to get properly excited.

I get the "magic of Christmas" excitement in general though. I am spending silly money to stay in the Cairngorms, visit the reindeer sanctuary, play in the snow (we are defiantly getting snow this year), travel on the Santa Express and go to the Christmas parade.

DS will be 2.5 and couldn't give a shit. It is all for meeeeee!

3bunnies · 24/09/2014 14:24

Father Christmas does come to Narnia though. As the power of the white witch begins to fail Christmas comes before spring. He gives Peter, Susan and Lucy gifts. hours wasted indulging Narnia obsessed children finally put to good use Might have to convince dh that they need to go after next payday.

BiddyPop · 24/09/2014 16:04

Father Christmas gave Mrs Beaver a sewing machine, didn't he?

ShesAStar · 24/09/2014 16:41

Thanks for sharing this, I've just booked for the 23rd December - this will be the fist time both the DC enjoy Father Christmas and I can't wait!!

By the way Father Christmas deffo did go to Narnia and he gave all four children a gift that they needed in the great battle at the end.

dashoflime · 24/09/2014 16:43

Oh, OK I stand corrected Blush

Tory79 · 24/09/2014 16:44

Waaaaah I live too far away to justify this Sad Sad Sad

LaundryFairy · 24/09/2014 16:48

I wonder if he give out swords, daggers, and bow and arrow sets like in the book...

ShesAStar · 24/09/2014 17:07

LaundryFair as long as he dishes out Lucy's special medicine along side the weapons we'll all be okay Grin

ghostisonthecanvas · 24/09/2014 17:14

I live too far away and now I am all teary....bloody hormones.
Aviemore is fab too.
DS, now 30, used to go to our local fire station, they held a great Christmas party every year. The kids could watch the blue lights coming for about 2 miles and santa would be on the engine They managed to make it special every year.

trixymalixy · 24/09/2014 18:36

Oh I would love to go to this! Too far away though.

3bunnies · 24/09/2014 18:37

derails thread again, Edmund didn't get a present as he was with the white witch at that point

LadySusanVernon · 24/09/2014 20:10
