Saw this while browsing the mamas and papas site.

My parents want to buy DD something 'nice' for Christmas and I'm a bit stuck for ideas. She'll be almost 18 months.

I'm buying her happy land, my aunt is buying aquadoodle. She got a bounce & spin zebra for her birthday and isn't that interested in it.

Think it's good or any other suggestions?

My DGS is 20mths and had this activity cube from about a year old. He enjoyed it, but now almost totally outgrown.
Have you considered a toy kitchen, or similar? Play tent?

Homebirthquestion · 22/09/2014 13:04

Mini trampoline they can hold on to. Scuttlebugs always go down well or a push along pram.

Picklesauage · 22/09/2014 13:21

Scuttlebug is an excellent suggestion. Also a pushchair has been a real favourite.

TheHammaconda · 22/09/2014 20:08

I've just bought DD (currentlu 16m) a Scuttlebug from Amazon. £18.39 rather than £29.99

Helgathehairy · 22/09/2014 20:32

I really want to get her something she can have at my parents and play inside with so scuttlebug is out. Maybe a kitchen.

I'm suggesting the playmobil 123 suburban house or large farm for the grandparents to get DS (18 months). He has some other play mobile 123 stuff and loves it.

Nocturne123 · 23/09/2014 08:09

The toy kitchen from ikea is great ! Dd is 16mo and has just started putting her actual dinner in the fake oven compartment Hmm I imagine by 18 months she'll use it even more! Watching with interest as I need ideas too

KnackeredMuchly · 23/09/2014 08:30

Ikea kitchen is £65

Asda sell a nice kitchen for £40

dylanthedragon · 23/09/2014 08:36

My DD likes her tomy activity dome. It is quite big but folds away fairly easily if it has to stay at your parent's house.

Helgathehairy · 23/09/2014 11:14

I'm in Ireland and don't have ikea (well we do but it's 4 hours away) or Asda.

Will look at the play mobile stuff - grandda would love to buy her a farm! (He is/was a farmer). Will look at the activity dome too - something that could be folded away would be handy.

Your link just takes me through to the Mamas and Papas home page. What were you thinking of getting?

LovelyWeatherForDucks · 26/09/2014 12:33

My 2 year old DS has loved his wooden kitchen since about 18 months. If I had a girl I'd get a Moover wooden toy pram as a 'nice' present as I think they are lovely! Or a toy Emma Bridgewater teaset.

Umlauf · 01/10/2014 10:59

I'm torn between the ikea kitchen and a tricycle that starts off as a push along and you take bits off it as they grow. DH thinks the tricycle, I'm leaning towards kitchen...

Which would you go for? DS will only be 15 months at xmas.

IssyStark · 01/10/2014 14:46

We made a play kitchen (pictured) from various things from Ikea for far less than the £65 and it's smaller (we don't have a big house) for DS who was 2 last Christmas. He'd been playing with the kitchen at nursery so we wanted to get him one at home. A year later and he still plays with it most days.

You can go all out on making your own: www.pinterest.com/temata/kids-kitchens-which-one-to-make/

We asked relatives/godparents to get various stuff to go with pit (pots and pans, play food, kettle, toaster etc)

unlauf DD got one of those tricycles for her birthday. She LOVES it. Loves being pushed in it and is quite happy to just sit in it if I'm trying to keep her out from under my feet quickly!

issystark that is amazing but I am not sure I have the time what with all my all important crocheting....!!! The IKEA one is pricey though (even more in my country of residence Sad so it would be a big purchase... Thanks helga how old is your DD? I'm wondering whether it has to be an either/or arrangement now!

StepDoor · 03/10/2014 10:33

The trike is great fun, especially if you go on walks quite a bit. DS absolutely loves his!

Helgathehairy · 03/10/2014 14:09

DD is 14 months now and got it for her first birthday. She goes into the room where I keep it and tries to climb into it herself!
