Present for a 9 month old

Will start off by saying that I totally agree with the people that are about to come on and say spending lots of money on a child this size is ridiculous. HOWEVER....

Mil and fil are older , great nana and great grandad il are much much much older all are not in super good health (especially the greats) and all have more than enough money and are very comfortably off and desperately want to shower my two childen (only two great grandchildren and grandchildren) with lots of expensive things. Luckily dd (4) has a list as big as herself so not a problem but I am looking for something around £50-100 from each set (so x3) for the will be-9 month old...... This is on top of putting something into savings accounts etc. and they want to buy something. I know I know......

But it makes them happy and they haven't got a whole lot of time left to have things to make them happy iyswim ?

Thought a jumparoo but possibly too old now. Another idea was a fisher pri cruise and play something that had balls etc. but if you could give me ideas I would be super grateful!!!! Something that she will play with at some stage? Not such a prob if a little too old as I am sure the 4 yo will enjoy 'helping'

And not clothes as I think they have that covered too

Thank you Blush

Could they pool the cash and but something big for the garden ? So by the time next summer comes around she (older dd) have something they can get a lot of use out of? Examples...
A swing set?
A wooden sandpit?
A wooden playhouse?
Does she have a smart trike?
Perhaps a really swanky push along ride on ( high now the wooden ones you get in fancy you shops?)

Hope that helps

WiggleGinger · 21/09/2014 13:31

That should read.... something that 9 month old and 4 year old Could play on Together next summer

Donthackmenow · 21/09/2014 13:40

I have bought my nephew (who will be a similar age) a trunki. It is not quite in the price bracket but if they bought some of the accessories to go with it then it would meet the requirements and be useful!
We bought my son last year the fisher price zebra (bouncy, spiny thing) which was a great hit.
My inlaws are like this and for dad's first birthday they got her a doll's house which eventually came into its own when she was about 3!

Donthackmenow · 21/09/2014 13:41

Should say dd's, not dad's Smile

TheImprobableGirl · 21/09/2014 14:02

Great idea regarding the zebra hack Is it suitable for 9 months onwards then?

wiggle you're ideas were fab- only minor problem I'd I can touch all four sides of my 'garden' with my arms outstretched Grin

I went through a stage of saying 'no more, keep your money' until dp pointed out it was actually making them happy and they would rather buy and then us throw it away Shock I tend to be miserly careful with pennies!

Scuttlebug. Baby will probably be too young for it at 9mo, but we got ours at first birthday and could use straight away and they have been great hits with all children we know.

didiimaginethis · 21/09/2014 14:17

zoo membership? membership of a nearby attraction?

bakingtins · 21/09/2014 15:53

Spherovelo, coveting one on DD's behalf!
If they'd give a joint gift to both girls and you have the space, a playhouse is a great idea. We bought one when our boys were left some money by great granny so they had something to remember her by, the money that went into savings means nothing to them at this stage. Oldest is nearly 8 and still playing in it.
Wooden kitchen

TheImprobableGirl · 21/09/2014 16:06

A wooden kitchen is a cracking idea baking and would stand the test of time.... Haven't had chance to google a spherevlo (sp?) but will do later! and I live near the safari park which does very reasonable season tickets didii - also a good idea but think they could possibly get bored of the attractions after a while!

Thanks for great ideas- I was considering on starting a good collection of happy land too which I know th baby wil be too small with for another 6 months or so, but by the time she's ready we'll hopefully have a good stash!

I would go for one of the big Happyland sets (zoo? Farm?) My dd started playing with Happyland a bit (well, pressing the sound buttons and sucking the figures) when she has 10 months, and still likes it now at 2.5!

TheImprobableGirl · 21/09/2014 20:44

Perfect- I didn't even realise there was zoo and farm sets!!!! You are all Engels :)

The mini micro 3 in 1 scooter? here

It might be a little too big at first but they will soon be cruising around on the seat and once bigger you can take the seat off and swap the o bar handle for the t-bar so it will last ages.

StepDoor · 21/09/2014 21:13

VTech First Steps baby walker
A pushable trike
Books
Puzzles
Hammock
Swing for the garden
Slide

Jumperoo is normaly outgrown by the time they are 1.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 21/09/2014 21:17

Woodem kitchen would last them.both a good few years - can highly recommend IKEAs and also Sainsbos has some lovely wooden pots and pans etc.

What about a wooden ride on animal? Think John Lewis do them - bumble bees etc. they are beautiful will lool for a link...

Kittykatmacbill · 21/09/2014 21:18

Dd who was 8.5 months last Christmas got a muholland & bailie push along dog (walker). Which and every other child who has been in the house adores.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 21/09/2014 21:19

ride on bumble bee

Petallic · 22/09/2014 08:10

I really like the look of these www.mywondercube.co.uk/products.php?ct=2

Toy fabric cube that baby can pull fabric sheets out of - just like the baby wipe packets they love emptying so much! This is on my Xmas shopping list for a 6 month old I'm buying for.

Kitchen or a house for the garden. Ride on animal.
Fisher Price Little People stuff not cheap but the farm set we've had for a year is immaculate.
Dolls house?
Not a lover of jewellery on kids but what about something for when DD is older?
Smart trike is a good one.
Really good paddling pool could last for years and years...ours must have done a good 20 years I reckon!

Donthackmenow · 22/09/2014 21:20

9 months is probably a bit young for the zebra but it depends how mobile they are- we have had 10 month olds playing on ours but they were uber agile! It wouldn't take long for it to come into its own though.

TheImprobableGirl · 22/09/2014 22:20

Think roteiro is definitely plugging her own or a friends company because that was really off the wall!

She's not active at all lol

Fisher price laugh and learn house, currently on special in Argos. Ours has had a lot of use and very sturdy so great to pull up on.

Play kitchen is definitely the most used toy in this house.

Wheely bugs are great but not till nearer 18 months.

A wooden block cart. We got one with alphabet and images on the blocks.

Little People have also been very popular.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 22/09/2014 22:32

Agreed OP none of those products suit your brief! complete self plug.
