I have a thread elsewhere but thought this am appropriate place to ask.

DD is a very outdoorsy girl. Likes riding, bikes, climbing trees.
Has a phone, tablet etc.

What the Jeff can I get her for a big main present? I'm totally stumped.

2nding go cart idea. Some really nice gravity karts out there these days. DS (aged 8)would give his right arm for one.

Do you have a forest school place near you? Its DS's bestest thing in the holidays to have a few days at woodland club.

monkeyfacegrace · 20/09/2014 20:33

Will have a look into go carts. Where would they be used though? We live in amongst fields and woodland, so more quad terrain?

I think it's a wind-up too.
On the 'other' thread DD had asked for a space rocket, but now DD has decided that since she's likely to suffer either a piano or a karoake machine she'd rather just have pyjamas. I agree with DD on that.

If she really has got all you say the only thing left is a rocket /shuttle kit and the promise of a trip to Florida to see the next rocket launch.

monkeyfacegrace · 20/09/2014 20:53

Sigh. Whatever.

I considered a piano. A kareoke machine is still probably going to be bought.

Problem?

So she's getting a karaoke machine anyway. Isn't that enough? Confused

clairemum22 · 20/09/2014 21:05

I've always heard that quad bikes are very easy to tip over. And heavy. I wouldn't want one either for my dc.

clairemum22 · 20/09/2014 21:07

Is she interested in music, otherwise a piano isn't too exciting. From your posts, am assuming money isn't too much of an issue! Could she have a pony but kept in livery at stables?

monkeyfacegrace · 20/09/2014 21:08

That's why I prefer the motorbikes.

Having said that, after looking at the go karts, I've found some awesome 2 seater off road buggy things that have a cage, so quad style bit with a roll cage. Surely that's safer?

No, no pony. All family and friends have horses, and the 6 am mornings to turn out/muck out just isn't going to happen.
Even if we employed somebody to do it, would sort of defeat the object. She can ride friends horses whenever she likes.

clairemum22 · 20/09/2014 21:10

Probably, but I'm biased and would go for the pony in livery!!!

monkeyfacegrace · 20/09/2014 21:12

I childmind, at the moment have 6 kids aged 7 and under I care for, am pregnant, have a gazillion animals already and a DH who works 60 hours a week.

It's a NO to a pony Grin

You can get so,e great off road go carts, they are similar to quads but look safer Smile.

marne2 · 20/09/2014 21:20

I don't think it's a wind up, I know a lot of people who's dc's have these things, most have ponies too ( we live in the country side in a rich area, sadly we are not rich ), If I could afford some of these things for my dc's then I would buy them ( apart from the mobile phone as my 8 year old does not need a phone ).

monkeyfacegrace · 20/09/2014 21:22

She only has a phone as me and her dad aren't together. He took out a little contract phone for her, so they can call and text each other all the time. They are very close.

I wasn't happy, but I could see the reasoning behind it. They speak every evening without fail, and tbh, I was glad to get them off my phone.

clairemum22 · 20/09/2014 21:23

JoyceDivision · 20/09/2014 21:36

monkeyfacegrace · 20/09/2014 21:42

Btw if you live in the cotswolds the wyre forest go ape centre is only at most 90 minutes drive and that has a junior course.

monkeyfacegrace · 20/09/2014 22:07

Really? I only know the one in the Forest of Dean. Will have another look. Thanks.

vestandknickers · 20/09/2014 22:13

Butler?

She's probably got one already though.

JoyceDivision · 20/09/2014 22:16

yay!

Obv a pack of cheap but big silly sunglasses and glittery disco wigs and deeley boppers would work well too!

Grin
monkeyfacegrace · 20/09/2014 22:17

She already knows all the moves to YMCA and Timewarp Blush

OP posts:
monkeyfacegrace · 20/09/2014 22:18

Right, going with a laptop and printer for school work, a disco pack, and her birthday is end of Nov so having her party at Go Ape.

Thanks mumsnet Thanks

OP posts:
vestandknickers · 20/09/2014 22:22

Only her own laptop and printer?

Surely she should have her own home office for homework?

(My eight year old manages her homework with a pencil, rubber and pencil sharpener, but hey-ho!)

Snapespotions · 20/09/2014 22:27

OP - genuine question - do you not think it's too much?
