What can I put in my crackers?

I made (well, assembled) my crackers last year, and I was really pleased with the results. I bought some extra large ones, and put in a miniature molton brown bubbles (30 l or 50 ml), lottery scratchcard, individual chocolate and the obligatory hat, motto and snap. They felt very upmarket for the bas e level cost.

What do I do this year? They will be for adults, primarily. The children's ones are easier - toy car/bubbles to blow etc.

Happy to spend about 5 or so on the contents of each cracker. The barrel length is about 13 or so cm if I remember rightly.

Last year I did a girls night christmas meal and I made crackers for it. I put in an OPI nail varnish (minis from the sets they do) and a hand cream.

I don't know how large they are but you could do something like that or what about a mini bottle of champagne/spirits?

MamaPain · 16/09/2014 13:30

Also can you tell me where you bought the crackers from? I'd love to do something similar.

Mama they have them in John Lewis at the moment in two different colourways, bu last year I bouight them from Go Crackers. There is a big difference in the price though - 5 for 6 in John Lewis, but the ones I really fell for on the Go Crackers website were 2 each (though they do cheaper ones) plus delivery

OPI nail varnish or undies for the women sound great, and mini bottles of spirits or keyrings for the men would be good too. I will ahve to take my ruler out with me when I go shopping!

Are they on the JL website Hiawatha?

MamaPain · 16/09/2014 13:58

Thanks Hiwatha, I think I might get the ones on the JL website for ease of delivery etc but the GoCrackers website has some good options for anyone interested.

Bloody hell, £5! For a bit of card and paper.

I did this a couple of years ago and kept my list of ideas. So aside from miniature smellies, nail polish, cosmetics etc:

Penknife, USB stick, nail clippers, bookmark, keyring, slim torch, comb, earrings, lip balm or gloss, luggage tag, padlock, pedometer, lightweight socks, earphones, cufflinks, booklite, pretty nail files, hair bobbles & slides etc, nice brooch, chocolate liquers, woollen gloves.

I might do these again this year so am still adding to my list.

i bought the make your own crackers from yellow moon last year, thinking it would be nice for dd to colour them in herself....except she did one and walked away

i had a lovely time for a week in the evening colouring them in, my teenagers may have looked at me Hmm

Loving your list casper. I am now sorted on the ones for women (miniature bubbles or hand cream, pants, earrings, nail file) and men (bookmark, comb, luggage tag, earphones).

My children are young boys, otherwise the pretty hairslides and bobbles would ahve been a must! A bookmark, chocs, toy vehicle, bubbles or a flannel would go down fine with them though.

looking I also spent a couple of evenings last year making reindeer bookmarks from a yellow moon kit! DS found them too fiddly.

What about lego minifigures? Would they fit?

casperandjasper · 17/09/2014 21:30

Glad you found the list useful Hiawatha.

Out of interest, another thing I did was to buy reindeer & sleigh shaped favour boxes (I got mine from Ebay, about £4 for 10). They come flat and you assemble them yourself. I then filled them with miniature chocolate santas, chocolate snowballs etc. They went down a storm with the young children at the Christmas dinner table.

I love planning Christmas!
