'Family' Christmas present ideas

This year DH and I are hoping to introduce a new tradition - Father Christmas leaving a 'family' present under the tree for us all to enjoy.

I've recently bought the bargain thread £1 sledges and got one for each of us but as DD is still young (1 this Christmas) I thought I might save them for next years family pressie.

Does anyone have any good ideas for presents for the whole family?

Last year mil bought us national trust membership which has been excellent this year - your little ones might not be that excited to open it at the time though! Grin I doubt it'll be as interesting to them as sledges but it is a good family present.

My sister brought us all a night in a luxury Yurt once. Would have been fun if it hadn't been pouring with rain.

Tickets for a pantomime/cinema/farm park?

An expensive board game you wouldn't just generally buy my parents got a family one each yr

Previous year we've had a Bird Table with seeds, lard balls etc.

I've also done popcorn boxes (dotcomgiftshop) and lots of different popcorn ie savoury, butter etc. You could do similar with ice cream, ie sundae glasses, spoons, sauces, sprinkles/toppings.

Getting Uno Extreme this year I think, following a family holiday with lots of Uno playing!

I think tickets to a pantomime on boxing day would be lovely. If not a Wi ?

Family movie pass and concession certificates.

Father Christmas always brings us a family board game.

Thanks for all your amazing ideas ladies - I'm making a list to keep in my Christmas organiser book! Lots of them will be used in the future as the kids will only be 4 and 1 this christmas.

I think the ice cream or popcorn ideas might be best for this year Grin

Santa has brought us a weekend trip to Legoland (though it was in January and bloody freezing, tight git), tickets for Walking with Dinosaurs and once, left a ribbon to follow that led to our garage containing bits of a playhouse ready to assemble.

On a more annoying note, I discovered recently that the DC's always believed that all the wow Santa presents were from their favourite bachelor uncle.Confused

Love the following the ribbon idea! Grin

A hamper full of special foods, DVD, etc. We started to do something like this on Christmas Eve, borrowed from MN. Ours always has pajamas for all, and a small treat (hot chocolate sachets, maybe new mugs). DVDs and popcorn for Christmas Eve sometimes too. The most fun is had when the box/ hamper is hidden (as things are not wrapped up) and the elves have left a trail of clues for the DCs to follow. Generally more popular than the DVD!

We've also bought Christmas gifts 'for the house' which might be decorative or practical. Gardening things etc. One year it was a chiminea, another (hard up year) a slow cooker, another was new curtains.
