Just bought the lovely bells for 64p and can use them for crafts after, and the inflatable parrot for a stocking filler to complete his pirate outfit. Thanks to all who are posting, I can't keep up with who posts what I'm buying but Flowers.

(If I buy loads of things under a pound that doesn't count as spending right?!)

lucysmam · 09/09/2014 17:28

Pumpkins, which bells did you get for 64p? I couldn't find any that cheap Smile

PumpkinsMummy · 09/09/2014 17:40

bells

Here you go lucysmam the exchange rate makes them about 64p.

lucysmam · 09/09/2014 18:22

Brill, thanks very much.

I'm stupidly excited now wrapping's being discussed as well! Grin

zipzap · 09/09/2014 18:26

I've just looked at the jingle bells that pumpkinmummy just posted and spotted a link to another stockist that if you want more, you can get 1000 for $3.55 (approx £2.20) instead of 200 for 65p.
1000 jingle bells

And if you poke around there are also other bells that are more expensive but shaped like santa, snow men, hello kitty etc to use like lucky charms amongst the cheap ones Grin

I've used the jingle bells in the past to thread onto wire and make christmas decorations, and then used those as the decorations on a parcel, with a bit of seasonal tape tied to be the ribbon of the decoration. They use up more bells than you expect - but at this price it's fine and it's a great thing for kids to do - slave labour great for their manual dexterity Grin. I tried to be too ambitious to start with and make fancy shapes but wreaths (circles!) or hearts work far better and have the advantage of being much easier too!

zipzap · 09/09/2014 18:32

I've also just spotted that you can get Tibetan silver charms really cheaply - 30 for 99cents, 50 mixed for $4 and so on. All sorts of charms but I thought these snowflake ones would be nice for adding to wrapping or for decorations... (29 for $3.52)

NorksEnormous · 09/09/2014 19:19

Nook was £79 now £29 here

kiwidreamer · 09/09/2014 19:22

Aliexpress help please!

I've decided to get DD a bundle of Frozen goodies from the apparently bargainous Aliexpress, I have the Elsa dress from Asda, can someone please recommend an Anna costume (thinking the Coronation dress) and an Olaf. I will get the baby Sven as he is mega cute.

Thanks

My other mission is Princess Lillifee, DD adores Lillifee more so than Frozen, we watch the movie from Netflicks every other day but being German there isn't much about reasonably priced, if anyone happens to stumble across merchandise about a ringletty fairy princess called Lillifee please let me know!

BrianButterfield · 09/09/2014 19:33

This isn't for Christmas but I just received this - www.aliexpress.com/item/Owl-portable-heat-child-meal-package-cartoon-animal-male-style-lunch-bag/1445656109.html and it's great! I have the real backpack and next to it the aliexpress one is obviously a copy - cheaper materials and not as great a finish - but it's a lovely little bag for the price and is still cute.

NorksEnormous · 09/09/2014 19:33

Did you see the lillifee dinosaur on aliexpress kiwi? Not exactly bargainous though...

Chill factor ice cream cups were reduced to £10 in Asda today. Dcs love the slushy cups and I'm hoping these are as good.

snappybadger · 09/09/2014 20:01

Wow, so pleased to see many people enjoying their Maps book bargains - glad I posted it here! I've gotten so many good bargains from these threads it's nice to be able to give something back.

Very excited too that I got to do some Christmas wrapping today! Off to visit relatives up north at the weekend so thought I'd save on postage and take all their gifts up with me (the benefit of being organised!).

daddykyller · 09/09/2014 20:19

brian those bags are £18 in boots!!! You've grabbed an epic bargain there!

I'm looking for a cheap seagrass basket, a really big one, if anyone spies one that's reasonably priced. I've found some on Amazon but they're quite expensive for quite a small size

KEGirlOnFire · 09/09/2014 20:35

For anyone doing 'pamper hampers' this year, asda have a new range of shower gels in for women called 'dolly mixtures'. They have some lovely ones, rhubarb & custard, candy floss, pina colada, bubble gum, lime mojito and I think there were some more... at the moment they are £1 each but I think they will go up in price soon... I am planning to put them in a gift bag with a mini bottle of wine, a mini yankee candle and a small box of chocs for dd's teachers.

TeWiSavesTheDay · 09/09/2014 20:40

Admiral - we have six of these seagrass baskets from argos - www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/8752491.htm?CMPID=GS001&_$ja=cgid:17470457553|tsid:59157|cid:199887753|lid:91624188753|nw:g|crid:49428502353|rnd:3183149969099659635|dvc:m|adp:1o2|bku:1 had them about 5 years and they've lasted really well.

Maiyakat · 09/09/2014 20:49

Was in my local Boots today and they had a few shelves of toys reduced (mostly pre-school, had some Octonaughts and Peppa Pig stuff). When I got to the till it then knocked a further 50% off Grin

How does it work if you don't receive something from AliExpress?

I ordered an Elsa dress and delivery was between 15 and 29 days, I ordered it on 13 Aug so 27 days so far. If its not here in next 2 days do I raise a dispute?

PumpkinsMummy · 09/09/2014 20:57

Anyone who is getting the bells, I found a lovely pine cone elf idea using felt scraps. I am thinking of doing a few and hiding them round the house with little treats/activities for me and DS to do together, sort of a cross between elf on a shelf and an advent calendar.

Not reduced but ikea have this fairy which could be a bargain elf on a shelf substitute, or the fairy on the christmas tree?

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 09/09/2014 21:00

How much are childrens books for nook?

LottieAndTheDinosaur · 09/09/2014 21:02

The seller for the Elsa dress is Vickey Li by the way so may be one to avoid!
