what will your 4 year old boy be getting this christmas?

DS keeps saying he wants the Lego Chima lion temple for Christmas. The recommended age range for this toy is 8-14 so although he likes playing with the little figures, at 4.4 I feel he is still way too young to really make the most of it.

So in need of alternative ideas for a main pressie - does anyone care to share what their little boy is into / would like this year?

Thanks for that! DS has sadly grown out of Octonauts so I've long lost track of what the toys are.

Elsa and Anna and the snowman whatever he's called. My little ponies. Some little pet farm things he saw on the telly. He will be 5 by then though.

Ds2 will be 4 1/2

He's getting

Le toy van wooden Camelot castle with Papo pirates and dragons (Father Christmas present)

Battery operated walking dragon (seeing a theme here?) (Want)

And some sort of dress up costume, not sure yet. They're pretty cheap so will decide closer to the time. (Wear)

Disney cars book set with audio cd (read)

Haven't figured out the "Need" bit yet, probably a new winter coat for next year.

He's getting a bike from one of his grandparents but I've already bought that as it was seriously reduced.

He's got his 4th birthday coming up in September though, so far for that he's got a scooter, buzz lightyear costume and thomas the tank engine 60 something book collection.

I've actually sorted more of his Christmas presents than I have his birthday presents. Blush

Is jake and the neverland pirates babyish? I was planning on getting my 5 1/2yr old Ds1 some bits as he loves it.

But he's also into Tinkerbell and Sheriff Cali and Octonauts and doesn't have a clue who the power rangers, turtles, Spider-Man etc are.

I hope that doesn't make him babyish. He does like Lego but would rather build with wooden blocks.

Think I might have to rethink his Christmas list.

Tinkerbell, my just turned 6 year old liked all of those things, but he has grown out of them in the last 6-12 months. Might be worth waiting to yours is back at school for a bit as that may influence his tastes. DS loves lego, but he still plays with wooden blocks though.

Maybe that's it. He's HE at the moment. For this year at least. He may go to school next year on his 6th birthday (we're in NZ)

He see's a certain 2 friends on a regular basis though, one is very much a turtles fan the other is very much into Avengers, Spider-Man, batman etc. so he's seen these things but is just so not interested and couldn't tell you who they are or what they do. And he still does attend daycare once a week where I see the kids playing Super heroes while ds1 is doing crafts or helping the teachers with the veggie garden.

Maybe it is worth waiting though, a lot can change in 5/6months.

Ah, yes - school can influence tastes a lot! For non-character stuff, things like imaginext and playmobil are good. No point trying to get him into characters he's not bothered about. DS will still play with his octonauts toys very occasionally but he does think jake& never land pirates is babyish now. Playmobil pirate ship is popular though.

Don't worry about him seeming babyish tinkerbell :) far better for children to play with what they really love!

As I said, my DS is getting some special wooden bricks as one of his presents, he will absolutely love them and that's all that matters to me!

FWIW my DCs aren't generally into what most of their friends are into, at least in terms of the latest characters. They know who Ben 10 and power rangers etc are, they can join in the games even though they've never seen any of it on TV and haven't asked to.
