After reading other threads with these humongous lists!

My DD nearly 4 has six presents and a stocking.

Is this enough? What else can I get her?

I need inspiration quickly.

We got DD an Innotab (that I found online for £30) and five or six other things - facepaints, dress for Christmas day, Hungry Hippos, stuff like that. They are both getting their stockings on Xmas Eve with jammies, chocolate penguin and a very small (cheap!) toy.

Then I ruined it all by blowing a load of money that we didn't have on a beautiful old rocking horse...oops. Blush

TheRaniOfYawn · 19/12/2013 14:57

My 4 year old is getting:

More marble run pieces
Board game (Max)
Felt tips
Paper (shared with sister)
Blanket with hood with bunny ears
2 books
Socks and pants
Stocking.

BigWellyLittleWelly · 19/12/2013 15:02

We may have gone overboard.

Dd1 (3) is having a cheap bike because she doesn't have one, a vtech camera, a build a bear, books, a sandtimer (to prevent meltdowns when we change from one activity to another). No clothes this year though.

So so many things I could have got. But we've learnt a bitter lesson that she hates jigsaw puzzles and craft stuff.

LittleMissGreen · 19/12/2013 15:08

This year my 5 year old is getting a stocking
2 large presents from us (circa £20) and a small one for the evening
and then 4 from relatives.

We learnt last year there is no point having more than that as it was 'rip off the paper' move onto the next without even looking at the present inside, and then half of it wasn't ever really used.

wigglesrock · 19/12/2013 16:47

My almost 3 year old is getting :

a soft toy
a few Peppa Pig bits

PogoBob · 19/12/2013 17:31

DD (3y4mo) is getting:

vetch camera and case
happyland castle
Doc McStuffin doctors set
Groovy Girls Princess Doll (this will be her 'Santa' gift
Selection of Books
Sleeping Beauty Dressing up Dress
Painting and colouring stuff

Various small things for her stocking, need to check and possible buy a few more small bits over the weekend.

plantsitter · 19/12/2013 17:34

DD2 (just 3) is getting a playmobil playground and a stocking. And then no doubt loads of stuff off relatives.

It's overwhelming to get too many presents and anyway you've got to give yourself somewhere to go! Don't start enormous you'll end up guargantuan when they're 12!

Artandco · 19/12/2013 17:38

Bike as main present, plus small stocking ( pjs, pens/ notebook , tshirt, small book, choc reindeer, harmonica ) Few more presents probably from relatives but nothing crazy. The above alone has cost a few hundred ( decent bike, everything else good quality)

Fantail · 19/12/2013 17:41

That is plenty. DD 2.9 has 11, but 4 of these are books and that also includes 2 new buckets for the beach. I,can't imagine buying her more than that.

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 19/12/2013 18:26

My DD3 is getting 14 presents under the tree (as are DD1 and DD2) they are

From Father Christmas
-- Small dolls stroller
-- Baby born boy
-- Pack of Asda small baby nappies

From me
-- Hello Kitty top from Asda
-- Electric toothbrush
-- Tango shower gel
-- Charlie and Lola DVD
-- Uno game with a little bar of chocolate
-- Snow globe making set from 99p Store
-- Minnie Mouse bag and umbrella
-- Salvanian families car
-- 5 old bear books
-- Teddy stick book
-- Lunch box

All of that came to less than £100 as I managed to get quite a bit in the sale.

BoysRule · 19/12/2013 18:30

My 4 year old is getting:

A stocking full of tatt well thought out small gifts
An electric guitar (from us)
An imaginext helicopter (from his little brother)

He is also getting presents from his grandparents x 2 and aunts and uncles x 3.

I am now worrying he doesn't have enough think that is plenty

queenofthepirates · 19/12/2013 18:48

My 2.9yo is getting:

a vtech camera
hand made pyjamas
love
kisses
cuddles
more kisses
hugs
warmth
food
the spirit of human kindness
a lump of coal
a tangerine

and that's quite enough to hopefully stop her turning into a material obsessed brat who demands playstations when she's 14.Grin

Seriously though, I can hardly believe how long these lists are!

Marzipanface · 19/12/2013 22:07

My 3 year old is getting one present. A pair of motorcross trousers and top.

Plus a stocking with some tat & useful stuff like wellie socks and ski goggles.

:)

Onelittlebugbear · 19/12/2013 22:41

Ds 4 has:

Furreal daisy cat
Furreal cuddles monkey
Imaginext T. rex and apatosaurus
Magic set
Gooey louie
Silly moo
Toothless fire breathing dragon
Doc mcstuffins dr's kit
Small Lego set
Some hm armed forces stuff that I got very cheap on eBay
Few books

And his stocking. He's a curious mix ds, he goes for toys from either end of the 'gender' spectrum. Or the gender it is supposedly marketed at anyway. So he has armed forces stuff but also a pink sparkly doctor's set. And a furreal cat.

oranges · 19/12/2013 22:44

gosh. Mine is getting a lovely wooden dolls house with furniture and dolls that I found it TK Maxx for £30. And some chocolate and balloons. It didn't occur to me to get her more.

Fishandjam · 19/12/2013 22:54

I'm feeling like I've been mean now!

DS (4 on Sunday) is getting a maxi Hama Beads starter kit, a Slinky, a tiddlywinks set, a Lindt chocolate bear and a plastic Triceratops. Plus some chocolate coins and a few craft supplies (cheapy Tesco glitter, foam shapes, foilc card etc) that's his lot. I just feel he has shitloads of toys he doesn't play with, so this year I've pared down.

YoniRotten · 20/12/2013 02:01

I'm thinking now I've gone a tiny bit overboard. However, DS, aged three, is getting a small token gift from my best friend, a book from his grandparents, and that is absolutely it, nothing else from anyone else, so I think that may have some bearing on how much some people buy their children.

He is getting a stocking mainly full of tat, but good tat - bouncy ball, funny balloon, wriggly worm, bubbles, colouring pencils etc. Also useful essentials that he'd get/need anyway, like pants, bubble bath, toothbrush. Also a teddy, and a book. And a satsuma and gold chocolate coins.

Santa gives four main gifts along the want, need, wear, read lines.
Want: some cleaning equipment he wants! (Kiddo sized dustpan and brush, mop).
Need: DIY tools
Wear: tshirt
Read: book (well, duh).

Then DH and I have bought him:
Some dinosaurs, some Playmobil stuff, a truck, some cars, playdoh, a book, and a doll. Oh and some pyjamas.

It looks like quite a lot wrapped up (those Playmobil boxes are huge) but it's all stuff I think helps creative play, or educational, inspiring his reading, or clothes that we'd have to buy at some stage anyway.

MummyPig24 · 20/12/2013 05:06

Dd 3.9 has for a bike and helmet from us, a barbie from ds and in her Santa sack she has:

Barbie car
Walking talking pinkie pie
Wash mitt
Bubble bath
Umbrella
Cinderella book and Jolly postman book
Mulan DVD
Selection box
My Little Pony
Toothbrush
Peppa pig knickers
Hair bands and clips
