Really stuck this year like I am every year

Dad is 76, fairly active but has no hobbies - doesn't drink, play golf, do gardening. He has just joined a walking group but my sister has nicked my idea for getting him some walking boots Angry

He likes watching most sports on TV, particularly football. His eyesight isn't great so books are probably off the agenda.

Budget is around £30. Help!!

Thermal socks to go with his boots?

A Contiga travel mug?

Make him something?

Write a voucher to cook him a special/his favourite meal?

Was he a miner?

Those sticks for walkers? A rucksack for his walking outings? A flask for a cuppa on the walk? Walking socks?

Iv made my dad up a little hamper, bought a little wicker basket from homebase and some cellophane and a big bow, he likes sucky sweets so Iv got numerous bags of different sweets from different shops, you could do a food hamper, nice jams, mustards etc whatever he likes? also got him tickets to a show, good luck Xmas Smile

A little first aid kit for walking
A GPS (might be more than £30)
Walking poles
Tickets to a football game
?

Novelty gift to amuse him?

I've bought my dad a 'lordship' - cost £14.99.

He has a genuine deed to 1 square foot of some Scottish Castle and a 'Lordship' title deed in a frame which looks very authentic to be fair Grin

There is nothing he wants or needs, he pretty much has everything. It will give him a chuckle and something quirky to hang in his hallway!

Thank you for all the ideas - his walking group is kind of a 'lite version' they tend to stick to mainly pavements around the town and only cover a couple of miles so whilst walking boots/socks etc are ideal gifts I'm not sure he'll need a GPS or other things mentioned as they really don't go far enough (oh the joys of being old!)

gamerchick he wasn't a miner, no - why do you ask?

He was a professional footballer back in the day actually, unfortunately it was in the late 1950's so no millionaire type wages! He already has a season ticket to his favourite club although he's giving it up next year as the travelling is getting a bit much for him.

His sister and her family always send him a hamper for Christmas.

God he's so hard to buy for! Will check out novelty gifts though, sounds a good idea.
