How does Father Christmas bring presents?

I have a 4 year old boy who is very excited about Father Christmas bringing him presents from his list. Now, I'm a bit confused how he does this?

Are all the presents from us/aunties/grandparents etc. from Father Christmas OR does he bring the presents that we/they want to give him?

Advice welcome

Every family does it differently but for us, Father Christmas brings stocking only and all other presents are from the giver.

Dh's family used to do from the giver but delivered by Santa, I don't know how asking for things/being good etc figured in this set up.

We went with my family's way Grin

He brings presents you want him to bring including a stocking. Presents from other people are from other people, it's bizzare to say they're from Santa too.

SMorgauseBordOfChristmasTat · 14/12/2013 18:50

He brings a stocking and one big unwrapped present.

DisneyAddict88 · 14/12/2013 19:08

stocking and one present that was on the list - or a biggish pressie if asked for present fits in the the stocking Grin

then a sack from us and whoever buys pressies are from then ( and I let them open them as we see the people even if its before Christmas! )

ilovepowerhoop · 14/12/2013 19:10

Presents bought by me and dh are from Santa as is the stocking. Presents from other people are from those other people.

FortyMerryFuckers · 14/12/2013 19:11

Santa brings the presents from us. aunts, grans etc give him there own presents although MIL always tell him Santa left the present from her at his house.

omama · 14/12/2013 20:29

We share them out so Santa brings some & we give some too. Santa brings the items ds asked for in his letter plus the stocking. We figured that way it avoids any questions about why grandma & aunties bring presents but mummy & daddy dont!

Luggage16 · 14/12/2013 20:35

santa brings 1 small much wanted gift here. This year he is bringing a digipet (tamagotchi like thing) for dd and a battery brio train for ds. Stockings and gifts downstairs are from us :)

chickabilla · 14/12/2013 20:38

In our house, Santa brings the one thing they ask for in their letter and a stocking but we put some bits in the stocking as well (only because they have accidentally seen a couple of stocking fillers). Other presents from us and whoever else buys them.

When I was a child, my parents bought the presents and sent them to Santa to bring on Christmas day.

MummyCoolski · 14/12/2013 20:50

Same as Laundry in our house.

When I read the title, I wondered if you meant "by sleigh"! In the Netherlands, Sinterklass comes (from Spain) by steamboat with the presents!

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 14/12/2013 21:05

Presnets in stocking FC, a few big and small presents under tree, FC. parents and rest, also from parents and rest.

as you like really....i think at 4 its nice to say most from FC....easier too...at 6 we will say from x y and z

PogoBob · 14/12/2013 21:11

For us Santa brings the stocking and one main present, the rest comes from the giver IYSWIM.

3yo DR has decided that Santa gives everyone a stocking so we're having to do stockings for me, DH and DM!

wonderingsoul · 14/12/2013 21:23

stockings and one present is from santa the rest from the giver...

i also thought you meant how .. sleigh too lol

and for that answer.... me and the kids liek to guess how.. is it like the auther movie where the elfs break in and deliver them? or just he have a magic key... or portal? after all not every one has chimleys...

my favourite is the ninja elfs Grin my youngest (4) things he travels by portals and eldest just turned 8 thinks he has a magic sleigh that can travel faster then the speed of light.

CloserLook · 14/12/2013 21:38

In our house the stocking presents are from FC and under the tree is from us and family. I didn't like the idea of him thinking that we didn't get him anything plus it means I don't have to pretend so much. The stocking has 3 or 4 proper but small in size presents that he's asked for (a couple of soft toys, a digger and some novelty slippers this year) and the rest is just general stocking fillers. Then the under the tree presents are tagged up clearly.

I also thought you were asking how he delivers them from the title! We've just kept that one vague. For every awkward question about access to house and delivery there's an answer - Father Christmas is magic. Xmas Grin

stargirl1701 · 14/12/2013 21:43

We do stockings and one gift from FC. The rest are given by family and friends.

Taffeta · 14/12/2013 21:46

FC brings stockings (hung on bedroom door ) and leaves a Skittles trail from his entry point (through the loft, we don't have a chimney ) downstairs to near the tree, where he leaves one big present.

Jjcrackers · 14/12/2013 22:14

Sorry for any confusion on the title!

Thanks...I too don't like the idea that grandparents etc don't get credit for the presents

For us, FC leaves a stocking each on the end of the bed.

He also leaves a Xmas 'sack' each of toys downstairs, which are unwrapped (because he obviously doesn't have time to wrap them and get everywhere).
Then we have wrapped presents under the tree which are from family.

I think it works really well this way as we have a bit of a break. We do the stockings and go downstairs and do the sacks, then chill out for a bit...make a cuppa and a drink for the kids, let them eat some chocolate and have a good look at the stuff santa brought etc.

Then after an hour or so we'll sit down and open the presents under the tree. This year we're actually debating on whether to have lunch and then open the tree presents after this, to make it last a bit longer. I always think it's over so quickly and even with our hour or so break we're all done by 9.30am!

SoftSheen · 14/12/2013 22:36

Santa fills stockings with small gifts, chocolate etc. Parents and relations bring other gifts under the tree.

capsium · 14/12/2013 22:37

For mine Santa just gave us a good idea.

Has never liked of thought of him actually visiting but because others do it can get a bit tricky. So we get round it like this.

MummyPig24 · 15/12/2013 04:50

In our family FC brings the presents in the sack. Like a big stocking. The other presents are from who ever bought them.

AnneWentworth · 15/12/2013 10:28

It's up to you. In our house he brings everything on Christmas Eve. Some to our house and some to mum and dads. How he does it, one word: magic!

AnneWentworth · 15/12/2013 10:30

I should clarify all the presents are pretty much from the giver. I forgot to tag their clothes and sock, pants book etc and they assumed from Santa so we do that. It hadn't been my intention.

curiousgeorgie · 15/12/2013 22:59

Everything from the list and in the stocking is from Santa, everything else is from us / the giver.

Except this year three things off of her list are from my parents / in laws and brother so don't know how I'll pull that one off!
