Help - absolutely no idea for dd (10) - loads for other 3!

Two will get i phones (they are 17 and 20) and dd2 (18) has new DMs coming. The 3 older ones also have McBusted tickets. OK, dd2's a bit down but so far dd3 (10 in Jan) has a couple of CDs and a book.... Wants a new lamp.
I looked at the 9yo thread - nothing really inspires me. She has an ipod but we don't have x box. She'll occasionally play her bro's games on PS3. Not make up, I don't do TVs in rooms, baking stuff coming out of our ears, she's seen 1D. I won't buy anything for the sake of it but want her to have a lovely present on Christmas morning. Had several rubbish presents myself as a child (not money problems, just odd mother).

Any ideas very gratefully received.

Dd is getting furby boom, iPod touch and Lego

goingmadinthecountry · 12/12/2013 18:41

She's not really a Furby kind of girl - probably due to all her older siblings, she thinks she's quite grown up! I think that's what is causing the problems.

Dd only wants the furby boom as it will interact with the app on her tablet

greeneyes1978 · 12/12/2013 19:23

Theatre tickets, Harry potter tour tickets, lamp shaped like Tetris pieces has caught my eye, converse boots, cooking lesson at a restaurant, hand held video camera.

I'm getting my 9 year old a tool box with saw, glue gun, hammer etc to do craft... Obviously have to be careful with the glue gun!

COCKadoodledooo · 12/12/2013 19:34

If she likes being grown up would some nice clothes be well received?

There's lots of printing sites where you can get great designs printed on hoodies/tshirts, I've got my DSD (15, but would've loved it at 10 too!) a gryffindor 'quidditch team' tshirt for example?

Dededum · 12/12/2013 20:40

My 10 year old DS is getting:

  • clothes from Canada (his choice)
  • electronic set from John Lewis
  • Wreck it Journal

How about Lava lamp, disco ball ?

Weekend away- just you and her to Paris for two days? You could do Paris for the price of an iPhone, surely. And then maybe buy her a cheapish digital camera so she can take lots of photos.

Get her the Alice books, or maybe just the early ones! by an American writer called Phyllis Reynolds Naylor.
Or Anastasia Krupnik

Really nice art materials

A box full of stuff for her room like posters, postcards, swatches for new curtains she can pick out, cushion covers, candles etc etc.....

Glitterandglue · 13/12/2013 02:05

Maybe if a weekend is too big (or not feasible) then something like a day out to buy clothes together, so she gets a 'voucher' for a set amount and can choose what she likes?

Or a set amount of money to redecorate her room, something like that?

CA95616 · 13/12/2013 06:00

Im getting my DD a fuji instax (polaroid) camera as she loves taking photographs and even better to have them printed out instantly! I think the idea of theatre tickets is great too.

snowmanshoes · 13/12/2013 06:54

Tickets to see Wicked or similar? An experience day (photoshoot for eg) Science/chemistry sets - there are lots of more grown up ones that start from age 10+, rollerblades, sewing machine with lots of squares of material and filling to make pillows/cushions/animals etc, telescope, good quality headphones, kindle, ipod, any of these any good?

snowmanshoes · 13/12/2013 06:55

Actually the polaroid camera sounds like it would be great - I'd probably choose that!

kimlo · 13/12/2013 09:19

Some great ideas - thank you. A tablet seems a good start for a decent sized present. She has a very old one we use for watching films on long journeys but it doesn't do much else! She does use last year's kindle quite a lot. A theatre trip too maybe - she loved Matilda so something along those lines.
Thank again - lots of ideas to get going on!
