How much does your bird cost?

We're hosting this year and I'm shocked at the cost of an organic turkey - they seem to cost around £10 per head which seems ridiculous. £80 for one that'll feed 8, according to Waitrose online!

How much does yours cost and where are you getting it from?

Free-range turkey, about 20lbs - around £120 I think?

How heavy is that Waitrose one?

That's about right however if you can get one free range from a local farm they should charge around £5.50-£8.00 per pound

Tomorrow (when I have money) I am ordering a turkey crown from M&S. £23.50. It feeds 6-10 people and there's only going to be 4 of us so we will have plenty of leftovers! I don't think the price is bad at all, and coming from M&S I'm confident it will be nice.

A hella lot. £80. It's hung and air dried and feeds 10-12.

Have it every year and it is bloody delicious. It doesn't have that watery, farmy, hormoney taste

From a local farm ours is about £4 a pound. (N Ireland so probably cheaper here) I get a approx 20-22lb weight

£86, I think. Free range, it's been hung so quick to cook and plenty of flavour, and I found a deal in Delicious mag so it comes with a free breast joint worth £25. Well worth it IMO.

Ruby for organic? That's a great price where's it from? I'm in N Ireland too Smile I'm just starting the food shopping list/costings etc.
