anyone else ever given up and let their kids open all the windows at once? We were reaching the point that the pieces were getting lost before they could really play with any of it (esp my 3 year old son who has imaginext calendar). Today he got a barrier and yesterday a barrel! He just looked confused! So today I have broken the rules and they opened all the windows and are now sat happily playing with all the bits! Please tell me I am not alone in doing this! I def feel the toys will get more play this way rather than being a complete set xmas eve when they will then get new toys the next day! Next year I plan on making them a sweetie one (they cant have choc) and giving up on the whole toy calendar idea! I have a bargain advent drawers set upstairs so will put a joke or small sweet in for the rest of month so they still get a surprise each day.

I haven't any experience of it however would prob do the same in that case! but dd has a moshi monsters advent calendar so gets a character each day so something to play with which could be an option for next year Grin

or moo free (I think) do a dairy free advent calendar

Nope. Playmobil advent calenders were opened one day at a time. Very bizarre objects some days, but that made it more fun! Eldest was about 3 when we first started using them and had never had a chocolate one so was fine about it.

We have the Moo Free advent calendar for DS and I can vouch for the taste Grin

I have the Playmobil Nativity this year, which I thought would be an advent calendar but isn't. I am however using it as such in the reusable advent calendar I have. I am putting the little characters as they appear in the story, and we are talking about it as we go. We have little books that tell the story. On the days there are no new characters, then they get a sweet or activity. I also bought a couple of other Christmas theme sets which I am dragging out at weekends. It was very sweet seeing Joseph and Gabriel on the Carousel. Mary had to watch, being with child Smile It has been a big outlay this year, but we will do the same each year.

Valium that's a lovely idea! the playmobil ones we have had before have been fine, but the imaginext one just seems really disjointed and, well dissapointing to open each day.

Sadly my kids are soya free as well as dairy and the moo free still upsets my daughters tummy (which is frustrating as I bought moo free in bulk cheap for them!! Though thankfully I agree the taste is great so will get eaten for sure lol).

The Moo Free calendar has the usual disclaimer of 'may contain traces' but soya is not listed in the ingredients. My boy is soya free too and only had his first tiny taste today, so hopefully it will be ok for him. If not, as you say, it will get eaten Grin
