Suggestions for a present for 3 year old ds?

I can't believe I have to start this thread as I have contributed to so many asking the exact same thing. However all the things I have been suggesting for others are things ds already has as he has 2 big brothers...

I am thinking maybe (more) playmobil so any suggestions about which set would be good. I was also looking at stuff for his wooden traintrack but it is very expensive.

I want to spend around £50 (or less!). We only buy each child one present each, and Father Christmas brings bits and pieces, which I have under control.

Any ideas?

wooden marble run starter set? my 3 year old is obsessed with ours!

recall · 07/12/2013 18:39

Hex bug ?

fizzly · 07/12/2013 18:39

My three year old would be happy with a range of assorted Schleich animals. Anything would do!

JollySparklyGiant · 07/12/2013 18:41

Look at Tesco wooden train track. £25 for 100 bits.

That wooden marble run set is lovely, he does love his Galt marble run. We do have a wooden one but not as good as that link.

I'll look into Hex bugs, I have seen the adverts but not one in real life!

He doesn't really seem into animals - which reminds me all our toy animals and farm are in the attic, I must get them down at some point.

We have quite a lot of the basic train track, but will look at tesco for bits and pieces.

We really do have everything he needs...

Wow Toys.

TK Maxx had lots of Brio in recently.

BellaVida · 07/12/2013 19:56

I got mine a Playmobil nursery set. It's half price in Argos at the moment£39.99. Comes with the classroom furniture and playground swings, slide, see-saw.

how about a camera? at that age mine loved pottering around snapping pictures and it is amazing to see the world through their eyes and realise what fascinates them.

See inside books are brilliant, we have the space and trains books and have got 3 year old Dts the castle and dinosaur books for Christmas.

AryaofhouseSnark · 07/12/2013 20:03

Oh and dressing up stuff.

AryaofhouseSnark · 07/12/2013 20:04

Dts love duplo, has he got lots of duplo already ?

Bakingtins · 07/12/2013 20:09

Look at Bigjigs toys for railway stuff, much cheaper than (and compatible with) Brio.

LauraChant · 07/12/2013 20:18

I was going to say Bigjigs too.

My three year old is getting the Spacebot 3000, a remote control robot. It is about £20.

ElaClaw · 07/12/2013 20:31

Thanks for bigjigs recommendation, looks great, just what I was looking for extras like bridges and cranes.. These are all great suggestions. I wonder if instead of 1 big present I should get him a couple of smaller ones.

We are getting our 3yr old son a costume box - a fireman costume, doctor costume, cape, construction gear, assorted hats/accessories. We are considering the box and its contents as his main from DH and I.

Santa is bringing him a Battat Take Apart Crane which got good reviews on Amazon.

NeverQuiteSure · 08/12/2013 07:40

One of our DC didn't want anything big, so he's getting a box of lots of smaller toys. We did something similar for his birthday and he loved it. Brio, bigjigs and plan toys all do wooden road systems which might be nice add ons if you need something else to bulk out the cranes etc.

If you do end up adding to your Playmobil collection, could I suggest the large jet plane, the bus/coach, the spy car and the pirate ship, all of which are loved by 3 year old DD, 5 year old DS and even 10 year old DSS. We have bloody loads of other sets, but these are the most universally loves ones.

I had a flash of inspiration last night when dh was watching the motocross. One of his bigger brothers does mountain biking and they wear the same as the motocross riders.

ds would love a similar outfit as he loves riding his bikes too. Solves the problem of having too many toys already. Father Chrismtas will probably bring him a couple of bigjigs train bits and small playmobil.

Thanks all :)
