Stocking presents - wrapped or unwrapped?

Just that really - I have wrapped them in the past but wonder whether it would be better to just bung em in and let DD get on with it? What does everyone else do?

Wrapped! Definitely.

Anyone who says unwrapped needs to be shot re-educated!

Santa definitely has a gift wrapping department. I've seen it in Arthur Christmas.

BigArea · 06/12/2013 20:07

Ooh opinion is quite well divided then! Basically I CBA to wrap them all so I think I will come down on the side of not bothering but making her take them out one at a time rather than tipping them out. Thank you all Xmas Smile

Oh dear I didn't see your post Outraged

Hmmm due to sheer fear I may go the tissue paper route.

Grin It's the right choice.

Half the fun is the surprise and excitement of unwrapping them surely?

BigArea · 06/12/2013 20:40

Yes but wrapping presents is soooo tedious.... I will order some tissue paper though Grin

I am definitely doing the 'remove all packaging' thing this year - all presents will be very accessible once unwrapped. DD is getting a baby doll and it took me ten mins to remove all the cable ties etc!

Ds has his stocking to open in bed at 5amwhile Dh and I are still asleep. So things will be taken out of their packaging and then wrapped loosely in gift paper so that he can open them himself.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/12/2013 20:45

wrapped

loads gun to punish all you non wrappers

BigArea · 06/12/2013 22:59

OK OK I get it - wrap or die, yes? Xmas Grin

I wrap DS's and DH's. Mine will be wrapped too.
DH has joint problems and we open them in the big bed to allow DH to get mobile enough to get downstairs safely. Means DS doesn't feel like he's waiting and we don't have to guess when he'll wake in a daft attempt to wake up and get going first.

applecrumbleandcream · 06/12/2013 23:43

Definitely wrapped. .... more exciting than just tipping the presents out.

CointreauVersial · 06/12/2013 23:47

Wrapped . But ditto scrunching in tissue with a quick strip of sellotape - soooo much quicker.

missinglalaland · 06/12/2013 23:51

Unwrapped! Make it easy on yourself. Xmas Grin

EugenesAxe · 06/12/2013 23:53

Wrapped! They are such 'what will it be' things that just pulling them out would be no fun.... wrapping prolongs the suspense; you get to prod and poke them first and stuff.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 06/12/2013 23:56

def wrap

BeaWheesht · 07/12/2013 00:22

Wrapped in special santa paper. Don't wrap stuff like little sweeties though or fruit...

lolalotta · 07/12/2013 09:29

Wrap!!!!! Grin

MissBeehiving · 07/12/2013 09:58

I can't stand wrapping BUT it's just not right to leave them unwrapped. So last year I bought some small brown paper bags with a Santa motif on and folded then stapled the top. Quick and easy!

MrsMillions · 07/12/2013 10:09

Wrapped with a cryptic clue on the outside for the recipient to try and guess (usually fail) what is inside. This is the tradition my DGF started. Definitely prolongs the process. DD (5 months) might not get clues for a few years but DH's stocking fillers, and those I'm contributing to DPs, DSis and DBIL all will.

TooWetToWoo · 07/12/2013 10:34

Definitely wrapped! And it has to be different paper than any of the other presents (unless you say all the presents are from Father Christmas, we just have stockings and big present from him) so it doesn't look like you've done them.

BigArea · 07/12/2013 10:54

Ooh MissBeehiving love the paper bag idea

OP posts:
MissBeehiving · 07/12/2013 11:26

BigArea - I got mine from IKEA but will probably buy some plain paper party bags this year and some "delivered by Santa" stickers and use those. Cheap and a lot less faff.

AbiRoad · 07/12/2013 11:41

I just asked DD 9 if Santa wrapped her stocking presents. She said that he does and she likes it that way because she loves trying to guess what it is before opening. All said with a huge grin for som reason.

ilovevenice · 07/12/2013 16:34

I do wrap though rather reluctantly as we didn't have ours wrapped as children. DH was adamant though (and does help!). It's made easier by using tissue and securing it using elastic bands (which you gather up after opening and use again next year...).

Perspective21 · 07/12/2013 16:50

If it helps, I have bought dirt cheap tissue from Asda, B and M and Santa stickers from B and M to stick the tissue down. I open a whole pkt of tissue, line up all sheets and cut into four or six, several small pieces, easy peasy...some items get a Cheapo bow too!

mumeeee · 07/12/2013 17:21

Unwrapped. Much easier that way.
