Thinking of getting ds a bike but needs to be a bargain.

I've checked Halfords, toysrus and smyths.

Any other ideas?

Bumping for you Mike as I know you need Christmas support Thanks Wine

If you could contemplate a second hand one, the bumblebee auctions are where the police sell off the ones that are never claimed that they recover. They often have some really good bargains - including nice makes that you (or at least I wouldn't!) wouldn't normally even think about looking at.

Try some independent bike shops, I bought ds's bike from one, but I emailed each one first and asked them for the best price they would do the bike for. I didn't expect much tbh but out of the 5 I emailed only one didn't offer it at a discount. In the end I got what I wanted for about £50 cheaper than I thought it would cost. Grin

I did the Isme thing, and got this bike for £39 :-)

Thank you bigarea Thanks

I've never heard of those auctions. Will have a google. I'm not adverse to second hand but am just conscious that bikes are very often stolen and as I have rotten luck I would end up paying for it then have the poltake it back Xmas Grin

I'm sure we have at least 2 indie bike place but I assumed they would be expensive.

Unfortunately ds wouldn't appreciate a spiderman bike as he is 13 soon. I wish he was still spiderman age Xmas Sad still worth a look though so thanks scorned

Try wiggle - their adult frames tend to be discounted.

How do you get the Isme bike for £39? Ds3 needs a new one, he's 5 that would be perfect.

KungFuBustle · 05/12/2013 10:51

I got DS a bmx from Tesco. Was £65 which was the cheapest I could find but I used Tesco boost and got it for a lot less. It's very good quality and even if I'd paid £65 I'd have considered it a good deal.

Do you have vouchers or nectar points you could use? What's your budget?

ScornedWoman · 05/12/2013 12:22

queen - Isme and Very give £30 off of your first order. I paid it straight off. ready to close the account, then they sent me another code for £10 and £15, so I got DS's winter boots.
I think the 12" would be small for a 5y old.

accessorizequeen · 05/12/2013 17:13

Thank you scorned. Yes I think he'd need a 14inch so I will check isme.

WorkingtoohardMama · 05/12/2013 17:20

I got our dc bikes from sports direct :

www.jjbsports.com/cycling/childrens-bikes

Got both bikes for around £120 delivered, which was the cheapest I found.

We bought DS's off of eBay from a business seller who dealt in end of catalogue lines. It was about 15 miles away which was fortunate, you can refine your search terms to do this.
It was actually a Tesco end of line, perfectly boxed and was about £50 Xmas Smile
