Hi I have a few people coming where 2 are coeliac. I have decided that because of cross contamination etc I will just do all gluten free. So nibbles what can I do that we will all like

Watching with interest because I am going to be in the same position. My ideas so far:
Onion bhajis made with chickpea flour (might have a go at falafel too).
Chicken satay
Meatballs or various flavours
Salmon and cream cheese on rye
Pâté on cucumber rounds

Um.... And then my inspiration runs out

Use veg as the holders of toppings. So, thick slices of cucmber topped with cream cheese and a blob of caviar (mock stuff is fine). Celery boats filled with tuna mayo. Cherry tomatoes stuffed with humous. Devilled eggs.

cocktail sausages from M&S, cheese and pineapple on sticks, crustless quiche, sushi rolls (well easy to make, and I do fillings like roast beef and horseradish, roast chicken and sweet chilli sauce, roast duck and plum sauce, tinned tuna, avocado, cucumber etc), Tyrells crisps (always check packet, it will say clearly if theres gluten), chicken satay sticks, celery with blue cheese /sour cream pressed into it, spicy popcorn, and if you can find tapicoca flour or Isabels mix then brazilian cheese balls are amazing and get scoffed at the speed of light

Some great suggestions here already!

M&S are great, most of their Christmas stuff is gluten-free now.

Melba toasts:cut slices of Genius bread in half (not like a sandwich, but down the centre of the slice itself so you get two very thin slices) and toast. Will curl up and can be kept in a tin for about a week.

Mooli rolls: get a mooli (bizarre looking vegetable) and peel into slices. Wrap around whatever you like! Tuna, chicken satay, cream cheese, anything.

Nairns do a nice range of gluten-free oatcakes for holding toppings

Mini taco trays (make sure they are corn-only) to hold 3-bean salad etc

Figs, quartered, wrapped in parma ham

Great ideas. I'm doing a buffet on Christmas day and looking for ideas for my mum. Somewhere does cheese wrapped in bacon instead of sausages, can't remember where. (I really am going for the easiest options this year.)

CMOTDibbler · 04/12/2013 16:39

Dandelions - M&S do gf bacon wrapped sausages. In fact I see they have a whole gf party pack in their 'food to order' collection this year

Swedish meatballs are gf and a tasty buffet food (not that I regularly snarf them)

This is great I am going to go to Marks and also do some huge salads

Nigella does a great xmas cake minus the flour in her xmas book. I think that cheesy puffs are gf but check first, I might be wrong!

I buy the part-baked g-f baguettes from Sainsbury's (they just take 5 minutes in the oven) and then make sort of crostini out of them - slice them, rub them with garlic and drizzle with a bit of olive oil and back in the oven to brown a bit. Then top them with all sorts:

Goat's cheese & chutney
Parma ham & pesto
Tomato & mozzarella
Tomato, pesto & goat's cheese

Also, I second all the votes for M&S Christmas bits - their cocktail sausages are great...I buy loads to stock up the freezer for the rest of the year.

Also, you can make great little blinis using buckwheat flour which is g-f and then top with smoked salmon & cream cheese.

Quinoa is great - use it like couscous and mix with vegetables and chickpeas roasted in Moroccan spices and toasted pine nuts.

The rye won't be gf so avoid that.

M and s do the bacon and cheese rolls.

We do garlic cheese in celery sticks. Nachos and assorted dips, I get some gf pitta breads, cutintoslices and sprinkle with olive oil and sea salt, bake in the oven for 20 mins. Makes them lovely and crunchy.

Cheese board with gf crackers.

King prawns with a spicy dip.

Olives.
