DS1 (16) says it's his favourite bit of Christmas Xmas Smile Ds2 looked horrified when i said jokingly that maybe they're a bit old for them now? Xmas Grin

I never had one as far as I can remember? Mine always have.

It's getting hard to find ideas as they age though but I've got a few. They both like apples and nuts so can shove some of those in too. Chocolate and bits and bobs plus novelty gifts.

DS1 only asked for 2 things for his main presents and they're no more than £50 in total. I'll get him a new dressing gown etc.. too.

I still get a stocking! It's the best bit. Do they like gadgetty things? My DH likes those little wooden impossible puzzles or a little Meccano thing.

LineRunner · 03/12/2013 05:55

My DC are getting stockings, they are 18 (nearly) and 15!

There will be a Lindt chocolate Santa poking out of the top. Various sweets, some designer underwear, a book and posh shampoo.

rachyconks · 03/12/2013 06:21

Well I'm 30 in march and still have one that my Mum does for me. I would be very unhappy if she stopped. I love all the wee treats! DH and DD (1) get one too (though I buy the stuff for DD's!)

MrsBartlet · 03/12/2013 06:27

My dc still get them at 16 and 13 but more to the point so do DH and I! I love getting a stocking. I can't remember a year when I didn't have one.

insanityscatching · 03/12/2013 06:27

I do stockings for my adult dc's, it's their favourite bit of Christmas too Grin Have a feeling that it may be something I always have to do though as any suggestions that they are too old are met with protests.

Amy106 · 03/12/2013 06:38

Everyone in our family gets a stocking from the newborn to the 90 year old.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 03/12/2013 06:38

My Dad stopped doing one the year my Mum died. He said it was because I had dd and was far too old now (I was 24 but had had one up to then). I think it was because he couldn't be bothered. He just hands me cash for Christmas and birthdays now. He is a great dad in every other way but is crap at presents for me.

Anyway, am sure it is a pita for you, but sounds like they really appreciate it :)

FreakinScaryCaaw · 03/12/2013 06:57

Aww nice stories.

Sorry about your dad myname. No it's not a pita really I have a bit of time yet to get things. Some good ideas on here.

Mine still have them (17,20 and 21) I put things they need but slightly nicer versions than they would buy themselves so nice pants and socks, toiletries, little joke books, puzzles and games, sweets and a selection box plus anything really small that I can't be bothered to wrap up.
Will probably keep doing them until they tell me to stop.

Serafinaaa · 03/12/2013 07:22

My family still have stockings. The 'children' are 31, 30 and 29. What we do differently though

Serafinaaa · 03/12/2013 07:23

Oops posted too soon. What we do differently is that we all contribute to each other's stockings £5 budget per stocking per person. My parents stopped doing them when we were all over 18.

BoohPear · 03/12/2013 07:28

Me and my sister get them, we're both in our late twenties. Every year mum says she's going to stop but doesn't!

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 03/12/2013 07:29

My 16 and 12 year olds would be horrified if I suggested no stockings!

Ujjayi · 03/12/2013 09:06

Totally agree - stockings are the best bits! We never had them either as children but I do think they are a lovely part of the whole day. It's the silliness which almost seems more thoughtful than the main presents.
