Teacher Presents

Just having a moan really. I have just read the latest newsletters and saw that DS2's primary school are now saying no Celebrations, Roses etc. or other chocolates that may contain nuts. I can see why they made this rule but having already bought offending items (M&S Ferrero Rocher knock-offs) I am a little bit peeved and tempted to say buggerit. DS1's secondary may be in for a bumper year Grin

The secondary school will be thrilled - believe me Grin

Surely teachers are big enough to check for themselves and just avoid those with nuts (and re-gift them to family and friends)?

It seems rude and over-zealous to police what presents are given

Unfortunately rude and over-zealous seems to be a theme with this Head. I can't wait for him to leave tbh, but he is only year 3. The Celebrations/Roses thing seems a bit barmy as they are well packaged and most chocs are wrapped in cellophane. The newsletter is electronic and very wordy so I wonder how many people will have actually noticed?

Whilst I understand that it would be frustrating if you happened to be allergic to nuts as a staff member, you are an adult, you don't have to eat the present you have been given, you could swap or regift it. Don't they realise that most of us have finished our shopping already? Maybe you should send in a bowl of fruit instead- they can't object to that!

They'll be getting Lambrini and like it! Grin

Oh for heaven's sake. They're lucky to get anything!
When I was teaching I was always grateful for any gift, homemade, chocolate, partially used (had a half used lipstick one year) whatever! I'm diabetic and don't eat a huge amount of sweet things...maybe my head should have put it on the newsletter.

Next thing you know he will be putting gift lists on amazon for his teaching staff!

Unfortunately it's a she, and she is a bit of an arse. I would list her crimes against sense but it would out me.

Oh dear.
I'd be tempted not to send anything. I'm sure the teachers with nut allergies can sort out what they can and can't eat. And if they aren't capable of that then should they be in charge of small children?

trinity0097 · 02/12/2013 18:54

We are a pretty strict no nuts school, but if it's a gift for teacher then it's fine. Also if it's a prize for the kids, packaged multi packs like miniature heroes etc are fine, we just keep the nutty ones away from top kids with allergies.

mileysorearse · 03/12/2013 10:25

I have just re-read the email and it's no chocolate whatsoever, as it may have traces of nut Confused
