DC's are 5 and 7 and me and DH would like to get them a tablet each.
We have a budget of around £100 per tablet. I've seen some for around £60 but don't know if the performance will be great.

We're not very techy so all the jargon so this is all very confusing.
Please help Grin

I've got an Asus MeMo tablet for dd (7). Is made by the same company that manufacturer Nexus tablets and belive is virtually the same as the original nexus7, only slightly better in some ways. Have a look at the online reviews.

Got it from Carphone Warehouse for £79.

We have minigadgets. Theyre Samsung inside the machine itself but no branding on the outside. My children have downloaded tonnes of films, games and books from kindle. Theyre fantatsic and theyve got an offer on at the moment too. I use them for browsing the internet too. I think all of their tablets are less than £100.

I've seen Samsung Galaxy Tab ones for £99 in tesco

here

I think they're an older model so don't have the most recent version of android but I doubt that'd make a big difference to your DCs at that age.

I have an acer tablet i bought from amazon, it was £99.

it's quite robust without being chunky and the 7" one is a good size for kids hands.

it runs on android which means most apps for kids are free or cost very little (69p)

you can use it for browsing the web so useful for homework and handy if you need to use it too

it's a fairly well known make so it's easy to get covers and protectors for it.

Hudls are good, I want one myself :) But seem impossible to get hold of ATM :(

BabsAndTheRu · 02/12/2013 12:14

I second the Hudl from Tescos. They cost £119 but managed to get mine for £9 as had tesco club card vouchers.

Thanks for all the replies.

DH has just been having a look at Currys and he asked me what I thought of the Kobo!
I know that essentially it's an Ereader but it does everything the other tabs do and it has a 32G or 64G memory depending on how much you want to pay.

I like that it's an Ereader because both DC love to read and anything that encourages that is a plus. My concern is child safety on the internet, can we make a Kobo child friendly? Or is the Kobo a really bad idea?
