are you meant to wrap stocking fillers?

We never did stocking fillers growing up but now I have 2 small dc and dc1 is aware of xmas, I'd like to do everything. Are you meant to wrap stocking filler presents inside the stocking or just put them all in?

Also, when do you open stockings?

I wrap most things, but usually don't bother with the sweeties, or really small things like expandable flannels. I keep a different roll of paper, specifically for the stocking so that DS doesn't wonder why Father Christmas uses the same paper as me.
DS brings his stocking into my bed first thing and opens it there. We don't do the rest of the presents until late morning so that keeps him going a bit.

Wrap most things except choc coins, satsumas etc. Use different paper to other presents and I use 3 different paper types, one for each child after the year when dh emptied the contents of the named plastic bags and mixed them up and it took me ages to work out which present belonged in which stocking. No labels because FC always puts things in the right stocking and they would recognise my handwriting

I don't wrap them (spend enough time wrapping the presents that go under the tree), most the bits in their stockings are tiny or odd shapes so easier to not wrap, they just tip the contents out on their beds and sort through it , keeps them busy whilst dh and I wake up.

We don't wrap then as I kind of see the stocking as the wrapping, but plenty of people do. I'd just go with what's best for you.

Ds has his stocking downstairs with the rest if his presents first thing, but has his stocking first.

T100 it's not compulsory , I do stockings from Santa so the dcs can say thank you for their gifts from others, and so they know that to an extent Xmas is funded by the bank of mum and sad.

You can't fit a unicorn and an actual airforce with chinooks in a stocking, you see.

Stocking and a couple of big presents from Santa here, the rest from us.

Lots of people do it differently (all the presents from Santa, just the stockings, etc) but the stocking is always Santa.

Grown ups don't have stockings in our house.

Yes, wrap stocking presents up, use all those bits of wrapping paper you have carefully saved from other gifts but which really are not good enough to wrap any presents in!
Selotape up very well so they are difficult for little fingers to open. This will earn you an extra half hour in bed asleep on Christmas morning before you are woken up and have to play with the yoyo, jumping beans, or mouth organ Santa brought your DC.

I don't wrap stocking gifts. DD's stocking is in her room but she always bring it into our room and opens it on our bed while we pry our eyelids open wake up.

Always wrap their stocking bits, had never realised people didn't until MN!
Each dc has their own paper that's only used for them, mainly so stuff doesn't get jumbled up in the lead up to Christmas.
They wake up and dp hauls them into our room and they get opened on our bed. Dc have never been early risers and we always have time to go down first and light the fire, switch the tree lights on and make a cup of tea for dp before I start making noise on the landing to wake them. I'm more excited than them!

No, no presents from Santa are wrapped. That's just strange. Santa and the elves don't have time to wrap presents as well as make and deliver them!

Yes I wrap them up, buys more waking up time. Everything we buy comes from FC.
DH and I don't get stockings but I usually put DH's presents in a sack for him. He puts mine in a carrier bag

Yes, I wrap them. Mainly to give DH and I a few more well deserved sleep minutes.
We make DS sleep in DD room (he protests, but it's only one night) on Christmas Eve.
I put their Stocking Gifts in a bag and slip it into the room before I go to sleep.
Then we hear them about 6.30 in the morning thinking they are being really stealthy and quiet but they're not.

Lots of sticky tape too.

I always wrap them, and it takes ages because I have three.

But last year, I was given the best tip ever - use tissue paper, and you can just rip off a piece, bundle the present up messily, and secure with a quick piece of sellotape. DH and I burned through the stocking wrapping (about 50 presents) in minutes; it was brilliant.

Oddly, the person who gave me a tip was a young guy in the office who doesn't have kids and doesn't do a stocking for anyone!

I wrap ours (fc is using shiny metallic paper this year). They are opened first thing on our bed. 'Tis magic.

Yes they all get wrapped up , each dc has their own paper ... They are all young adults now, but come home for christmas and I would not miss it for the world . I nearly caused a riot last year when I asked them if they still wanted stockings :). This year might be the last year that they are all here and I will enjoy it for as long as it lasts :)

I wrap everything, even the satsuma and candy cane. I also take everything out it's box or packaging, and cut off any tags, to make the parcels more knobbly and harder to identify - and also because the elves made them, so no packaging seems more authentic

I use different paper that I have to keep extra well hidden so dd doesn't see it and smell a rat.

DC are allowed to open stockings as soon as they wake up, but in the past they have come into our bed to do it with us.

Yes I wrap. Another stocking from Santa, tree presents from relatives here. I buy the really cheap sheets of wrapping paper so they're all different.

We wrap them. But I don't use that paper for anything else as Santa only brings the sack presents, his paper wild be different to ours!

We open them as soon as we get up!

I wrap everything. It keeps the DCs in their rooms for longer!

They open in their rooms and try to resist waking us for as long as poss. I love eavesdropping on the exclamations and them dashing between rooms to show each other what they got.

Family presents are downstairs, once we've had some breakfast.

Then off to grandparents for their presents.
