What colour decorations are on your Christmas trees?

Just bought a new tree for the living room and fancy a change from the usual red and gold decorations we usually have.....looking for inspration? Can't afford to just buy a load of new decorations but can make a start now on a different colour schene and build up.

DH and me started collecting what ever glass baubles took our fancy £25 years ago. DDs have joined in. DD1 managed to get a beautiful one back from a school trip to Germany.

So no colour scheme, though a tendency to rich dark jewel colours because that's what tends to appeal.

We compromise. The tree in the living room is white lights and silver ornaments i.e. my tree. The tree in the dining room looks like Christmas threw up on it i.e. kids tree.

We mainly blue and silver but some 'specials' (kids favourites) that have to go on every year too!

We add decorations each year - some we buy, some are given to us. Ere is no colour scheme, but a great many happy associations.

The tree in the living room has gold, the dining room has silver & pink (as chosen by dd) the tree in the hall has anything & everything on it, although mainly red & gold

Living room is red, gold, olive and bronze with a touch of silver and white lights. Like a traditional Victorian colour scheme.
Dining room is silver, duck egg and royal blue because these were my old decorations from my my old house.

I can hardly wait until Sunday to get them all up.

Bronzey mauve, pale peach, and rose gold. It's beautiful.

Santa and snowmen rather than a colour scheme here. And no tinsel!

I do fancy the vintage, coloured glass bauble look for when DS is older. I think I'll start keeping an eye out for any I like.

Well we have multicolored lights and the decorations are a mix - very kid friendly tree in that sense. Otherwise I have red/green plaid ribbon and shiny red bead garland. This year I'm mixing in cinnamon bundles and dried orange slice ornaments that I'm making with my eldest. Its a bit of a confused tree but we love it

I would love to do tinsel but young kids and cat axe that plan.

my baubles and tinsel are teal to match the living room, with plain lights.

the rest is a mish mash of special decorations i buy for ds each year and vintage glass and wooden ones accumulated from my mums friends when i got my first house and moved in close to christmas.

i sit some of the wooden ones out on coffee table etc as i now have too many to fit on my skinny wee tree

White LED lights with purple and silver baubles.

My great-aunt has all different shades of pink, the tree being a bubble-gum shade. I.LOVE.IT.

We have a different combination every year, but only traditional colours; so red, green, gold, silver or white. This year is red/gold/white. It's going to have a woodland theme too, with little white birds and red mushrooms

Main tree combination of red, green and gold with white lights. All decorations we have collected over the years living overseas as well as more basic ones. It was looking a bit flat though so I've been adding more white and silver to lift it. Not sure if it will need more lights this year too.

Tree in kitchen/dining area is more multicoloured with some bright decorations I got from ikea one year. I might get coloured lights for that tree this year.

Also have a small black tree that goes in the tv room with silver and turquoise decorations.

Last year we also had a small real tree in a pot in the dining room but this year I have one of those white paper pre-lit trees. That will just have silver, white and glass on I think.

Don't think any of it is going up till 13th which is when DS breaks up from school.

White tree with blue pink and silver baubles and tinsel. I have a tiny house so I tend to stick with the tree and my squishy window snowflakes in blue and white.

And a weeping angel tree topper!

My dads tree is far more interesting but it's cost him a bomb, he's made decorations from those little doctor who figurines that come in 10 packs, and he's having a Death Star on the top.

We have a collection of different baubles - glass clear, glass icicles
And various red and brown glass Swedish decorations in spirals etc. i've bought these over the years as we used to visit Liseberg before Christmas each year when DS was small and I was always pulled in by the gorgeous Swedish Jul shops.

Then we have some Disney ones, Nightmare Before Christmas and some Grinch ones from Universal Studios. Every time we do a big fun trip I buy a bauble for the tree.

It all seems to come together. I don't use tinsel, i have clear beads to wrap around the tree, but I did get this metallic curly bronze stuff to tie the theme together a bit - I can only describe it as robot pubic hair! I have some small fairy lights but I also use glass bauble tea light holders as they just look amazing lit.

If the tree has any gaps we fill it with pine cones tied on with ribbon, or biscuit star shapes (we cut out a hole in the centre and put a hard fruit sweet in the middle of the cookies and when they melt they look like stained glass biscuits).

DS and DH have their own tree in the hallway - it's our old artificial one we bought when DS was small. They have red baubles and red fairy lights, tonnes of foil chocolate baubles and a Primark Santa train that goes round the tree on a little track!

After several years of white and red Nordic Christmas decorations we are changing it up! Going for a gold and white theme this year. Gold baubles, frosted white baubles and white tinsel with white lights. Each year my daughters choose a special bauble so those will go up too. Then when they leave home in 10 and 17 yrs time they'll have enough baubles for their on tree! Btw I bought luxurious thick tinsel from John Lewis 2m for £4! Not bad. They have a fantastic range of tree decorations that are reasonably priced,

Mine are a bit of an odd selection.
A few decoupage baubles in Scandinavian designs and then lots of wooden, felt and tin individual decorations. Lots of stars, tartan hearts, nutcrackers and soldiers and rocking horses.
Some candy canes.
I have some paper cones for sweets this year too.

I buy what I and DS like (though I could happily get rid of the flocked polar bear from asda ds chose as its hideous but he wanted it). I do love buying them though. Thank god we can fit such a huge tree in the house.
