Misfitless your house your rules. I think it perfectly fine for you to ask your parents to come at 1pm.

My ILs come over every year (they live half an hour away) and my mum comes and stays every other year. My mum mucks in and is good fun to have around, she usually stays about 4 days.

My ILs are good fun too, they arrive about 1ish and leave about 9, which is perfect.

We have champagne and canapés about 2.30 then our meal a out 2 ish. That goes on for hours, then we play games usually in teams. FIL has usually drunken a little too much, so provides hours of entertainment with his inability to get anything right.
We have cheese and more wine around 7ish then we settle

I have no-one to stay this year. It will be bliss.

Ordinarily all parents/in-laws arrive on Christmas Eve and leave day after boxing day. While here they are expected to entertain themselves, which makes things easier - I will suggest options, but it's up to them to sort themselves out. I quite like having everyone here, but will be glad of the change this year.

We just have my parents over, house is too small for any more guests. They arrive about 12.30 as they go to their own church first and drive over after (1/2 hr drive). Nibbles on arrival, dinner around 3.30, pudding/mince pies about 7 and they go home about 9 when our DCs start heading towards bed.

Boxing Day is our problem one, we are expected at the ILs for big family lunch at a carvery at 12 and it's a good 2 hours drive away, so we stay for a couple of days, it's fine once we get there, but I hate having to get up early, set the house straight, make the DCs pack etc, it's the one day of the year when I would love to slob around in my pyjamas all day.
