I feel very Blush about this, but I have to ask what do you tell your DC about Father Christmas?

Do you say the gifts in the stocking are from FC and that's what he delivers?

Or do you say all gifts are from FC?

Or that, say, x gift is from mummy and daddy but FC puts it under the tree?

I want DDs to have the full FC magic but am not sure what line to take - this is the first Christmas DD1 is old enough to understand properly and ask questions!

I am confused!

All gifts I've bought are from Father Christmas. Also he leaves gifts at grandparents house so they will have things to open when we go there. Friends and other relatives gifts are from them. The dc have never asked what we or gps have got for them and I don't think they have ever even thought about it.

FC is most definalty bringing the BIG gifts, but we are giving some special stuff too, like a few necklaces and jewerlly box. FC is bringing some much coveted stuff...

Father Christmas delivers a stocking, selection box and one big present to the end of the bed.

Everything under the tree is from us/friends/relatives.

FC presents can be opened as soon as children wake up, the presents under the tree have to wait until everyone is up, dressed and breakfasted.

Pillow case with one gift from the list, books, selection box, choc coins and a few bits and bobs. £30-£40 worth. Can be opened on waking (and chocs eaten for breakfast).

All other presents under the tree from us, GPs, aunts, friends etc. If they were all from Santa mummy wouldn't need to write them all in a notebook to do thank yous.

DH's family tradition was to send all family presents to Santa for delivery. This makes no sense to me and as I buy and wrap all the presents we do it my way.

Everyone does it differently I think. Here Santa brings ds's stocking and a pile of presents. We get ds a couple of presents which go under the tree and presents from/ to other people are given to them directly. People buying presents and sending them to Santa to deliver seems like a waste if postage/ fuel/ magic dust to me Grin

Father Christmas fills a stocking for any children in the house and leaves it at the end of their beds. These FC presents can be opened immediately on waking.

The presents under the tree are from family members to one another. This year DC will have one from us, one from each other, and some from grandparents and aunts and uncles. We only open gifts when the giver is there too, so some presents might stay under the tree for days - or have been opened before Christmas day if we saw the person then.

FC brings stocking presents. Plus cheap tat that I stupidly failed to realise was too big for the stocking. We give the big presents (and some little ones).

Basically if it's noisy, messy, totally naff or pointless, it's FC. Most of the stuff is under £2, lots is from Poundland (FC skipping rope for £1) and Tiger.

It seems to work well; this year DD has asked FC for "some of those fizzy bath sweets that make the water go purple which mummy won't let us have which FC brought last year" and "more noisy putty like you brought last year but my Daddy left the lid off" as well as "some really really sparkly shiny hair clips because Mummy won't buy me any but FC gives me some" Grin.

FC brings everything that we buy. Mums and Dads only buy when you stop believing in FC. That's how DH and I both had Christmas and it didn't occur to us to do anything else.
Presents from family and friends go under the tree and get opened after dinner or on Boxing Day.
I didn't know people actually had stockings until DD started school.

FC gives the one present asked for in the letter - the only time you are allowed to ask for a gift! He also brings the stockings but they only contain an apple, a satsuma, choc coins & a small gift.

All other gifts are from people and they all need thank you cards!
