Present for Dh on a budget

DH and I have frankly had an appalling year and money are tight to say the least.

We have decided to give each other a £20-25 budget to buy Christmas presents for one another.

The thing is however I have NO idea what to get him feel utterly lost.

He likes pod-casts Politics Reads the Independent does read (but I feel gift voucher for his kindle is a bit of a cop out) Enjoys stuff like Never Mind the Buzzcocks, News Night or West wing on tv. Works in advertisement and is a bit of a gadget head. LOVES apple stuff.. Is a utter Mac person (pc user myself)

Any ideas?

Not sure if they would be right for your DH but I have got my DH a help for heros leather bracelet which was £20 and a Ducti wallet from amazon, which is basically wallet (with coin/card holders) made completely out of duct tape. Think it was about £15 :)

HE wouldn't wear the bracelet I bought him a beautiful watch last year but he never wears it. not sure about the wallet thing seems like I am saying we have no money now have something not to have your money in laughs.. (roll on 2014 is all I say)

I'd go with a DVD box set - a book he would like - some sweets and some nice socks.

It's not wildly exciting but you should get them all for £25 (£10 box set, £8 book, £2 sweets and £5 socks) and its things he can spend some time with and enjoy?

You won't get far in AppleWorld with £25 unless you went for a case for a gadget he has?

No idea, DH gets clothes, because he never ever in 25 years has bothered to buy any without being dragged into the shop.

Private eye subscription? Or other subscription?

atomicyoghurt · 26/11/2013 19:42

Does he show any interest in cooking? I got mine some of the sale kits at The spicery. They're only 1.50 each which is pretty good as you can get a selection which is good.

I also got mine a camera lens that clip son the the iPhone to make it either fisheye or macro. This was about 6 quid from amazon.

The book people have plenty of books at low prices and some geeky ones! There's one called something like 'thinking fast and slow' which I got for my fil which looks interesting.

Have a look at the Amazon black Friday deals thus week. There's some decent t-shirts and techy stuff.

Lastly take a look at xkcd stuff online. My dh loves their stuff and you can get some of it printed on keyring etc. The xkcd book sounds right up his street. www.amazon.co.uk/Xkcd-Volume-0-Randall-Munroe/dp/0615314465/ref=tag_stp_s2_edpp_url

Sorry I had to go collect him as the trains were all messed up and none going down to where we live..

A subscription to something is not a bad idea...

Hehe I love the lense idea too he is a keen photographer but I have bought him so much stuff for that over the years I dont think that will be in budget. (as now he is on like £200 lenses for the camera but for the phone its fun)

The xkcd thing I might get him for his birthday (in Jan)

Yeah the phone lens thing is just for fun really. Not to take the place of a real camera!

If he likes The West Wing, the Borgen box set might appeal. I love them both.
