Help! What are other parents with 5 year old dd getting for christmas? My daughter only wants a computer that plays games so my mum has got get a leappad 2 which is great but now I have no ideas!

Ds is getting a bike so I'd like something with a 'special' feel to it! We are also due a baby in 2 weeks so wanted christmas to feel special for all children.

Any ideas gratefully received!!

An ipad? Wink
How about a design-a-friend doll with loads of outfits and accessories? My dd calls hers her best friend.
Tickets to something? a show or a day out later in the year
Dolls house is a good - you can set it up beforehand so its ready to be played with..

As DS is getting a bike, how about a Didicar - a self-propelled ride-on? Older children love them as much as the younger ones (there are always fights over the one in our house!)

Check out woolworths as they have 3 for 2 online

A scooter - will also help for when she doesn't want to walk but you have your hands full with new baby.
A CD player/radio & some CDs of her own - my DS loves his so much and will shut himself in his room listening and dancing around to the cBeebies and Sooty CDs, he's also got a disco ball which was a massive hit.
A camera - this will also give her something to do when baby comes along, she can be a photographer. DS has a cheap real fujipix which has lasted really well. We got a red one and added a lightening McQueen sticker so it's easily identifiable as his.

A Furby? My 5 year old dd is getting one and will be over the moon!

I'm imagining the already has a scooter (what 5 year old doesn't these days!!) but if she still has a 3 wheel how about upgrade to a 2 wheel. My dd's main 5th birthday present was a micro sprite to replace her mini micro.

Playmobil another good idea, dd loves hers!

Dance Mat
Karaoke Machine
Dolly, Pram, Dolly's Highchair - Probably find she gets quite into her dollies once you've had the baby.
Roller Skates

5 year old dd is getting from us and family this year
Lego friends - summer riding camp, bakery and some smaller sets
Lalaloopsy minis playsets and tree house
Big lalaloopsy doll
Sophia first amulet
Hello kitty wardrobe for her dressing up stuff

Things that she had last year which she still plays with are
Big desk stuffed with craft stuff (desk was off free cycle and had fairies stencilled on it)
Build a bear and it's millions of clothes and assessories
Big wooden dolls house suitable for her barbies
Lego friends vets
Doc mcstuffins toys and doctors coat and bag etc

Ds2 is 5 and I'm thinking of getting him a kurio 4s touch - iPhone-ish sized android tablet/gadget. He already has a leapfrog explorer (shared with brother) and a mobigo but loves playing games like candy crush, car park and on-off on my phone/iPad.

Has the advantage of being small, have a rechargeable battery and android games are cheap or free unlike the leappad etc ones, and they're all on the device; no games cartridges to lose or damage...

Did your mum know that you were planning on buying her this or did you tell her that you were getting it and she surprised you shortly afterwards by announcing that she'd got it instead... Or did you 'let' her get it?

From your op it doesn't sound like the latter; I'd be tempted to go and get her the kurio but maybe that's a bit childish

Ds is also desperate for the game labyrinth, might be worth checking out?

Playmobil swimming pool (about £25 now), coach/school bus (similar price), camper van (about £20 now), playground, boat or school?

Does she have a camera? The Vtech one is really good for a child her age.

DS is 5, and this Christmas he is getting Playmobil. Friends with children his age or thereabouts are getting the Leap Tab reader things with a pen that says the words in books when the child hovers the pen over the words, and the pen stores up to ten or so books on it; desk with stationery inside; dolls house; Learning Resources pretend and play school set or post office set; lego young builders (boyish) or Lego friends; Ikea also do a flat pack cardboard "market stall" for £10 which can be anything from a puppet show to an ice cream van or a shop or a post office counter or whatever. It is the best £10 I have ever spent.
