You'd think, as someone who works in a library, I wouldn't need to ask
:o but I'm struggling to think of something really special to give DD this Xmas.
She's into chapter books now - I read her something at bedtime (mostly my old childhood favourites
), and very recently she has started reading easier chapter books to herself in bed which is great. Needless to say she has free reign at the library but as I don't actually buy books often I'd like to choose something really lovely IYSWIM?
I've got an A4 colour illustrated version of James and the Giant Peach (we already borrowed the George's Marvellous Medicine one so I know it'll go down well) but would like something else as well. Needs to have really good illustrations and preferably not an abridgement as IME they tend to be a bit 'meh'.
Any ideas?
Already got and/or have read:
Enid Blytons (she doesn't have a hope of escaping those :o)
Paddington
Worst Witch
Roald Dahl
Peter Pan
Alice in wonderland
Borrowers
Winnie the Pooh
Phantom tollbooth
Wizard of Oz (on kindle)
